Can someone tell us where to go for our car tax please? We think it's in Lefkosa but not sure where. Also does anyone have any idea of how they actually work out the car tax? We've got a geriatric 2 door Mitsubishi Pajero so if any one can give us a bit of a clue as to how much we need to take to pay that would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

as Garry Monger said "corse you dough mind paying the excessive road tax costs in the TRNC because of the way they look after the roads - look at the Girne bypass for example....."

You know VFM when you see it.....

Good news you will pay less car tax this year than last.

If coming from Girne the tax office is turn right at the waterfall roundabout (near the police station) as if you were heading back to Girne. Then turn left in about 20 yards it is down there on the left across from the old tax office. (It is signposted in English as well)

Thank you all so much for your help and advice on this one. I think Girne will be much easier than Lefkosa (as far as anything concerning government bodies here is easy - do I feel another opportunity for people watching coming on???) 1200TL is more pleasant than the 2000TL paid last year by the previous owner And at least we have tarmac roads on our estate Negnick!!! OK so that's down to the developer but we can dream that one day they'll all be like that - although the bumps in the roads do jolt the dodgy headlamp into working

It's the same in the south. Anything over 1.6 gets hammered for road and import taxes. My Honda 1.6 is only 57 euros road tax and only cost about 300 euros to get it into the country. Bigger vehicles can cost thousands.
