In North Cyprus Free Press today....

Another Girne bypass finish date revealed – The link between Girne and Lefkosa road and Erener petrol station will be finished by the end of March – a month ahead of schedule

Would that be March 2010 or another March?

The sooner the better.

Are you sure that they actually meant a date when they said 'March' or would it be 'a' March.

Maybe a girl guides march or similar........?

There was a report in Cyprus Today. It's not totally clear, but here it is, for what it's worth>>>

"Girne or Lapta bound traffic will be able to connect to the bypass, with a subway for traffic heading towards Lapta and a roundabout for traffic heading towards Girne town centre.

Motorists heading towards Lefkosa will still have to wait for a link for the bypass to be built. This will go under the main Lefkosa to Girne road."

This, of course, begs the question of what route will bypass traffic for Lefkosa take in the interim, and how will the roads cope!

They are doing work at the Karmi road/bypass. Maybe they'll give us a roundabout - it could be a bit dodgy trying to cross the 4 lanes of traffic given the volume of traffic now using our road.

What it actually says is there will be a march of 2010 people if the by pass is finished to celebrate the number of staff sacked at KTHY.

I did think it hilarious about joing from Lapta direction to Lefkosa road. Has anyone taken a good look at all the houses that are built in the area where this alleged underpass will emerge. This probably why they have given up on that bit and hope we will all forget about it.!!!!

Was told this morning by a man with a clipboard down where they're working on the Karmi road crossing that we are going to have lights there. I asked if this meant those flashing amber warning ones and he told me that they would go red and green too. So now we just have to wait and see. I don't believe a word of it.

Rules of the road for traffic lights.

Green mean GO

Red means go a bit faster in case there's somebody cutting in front of you.

I drive along it to work every day most of it is already tarmacked just the links on to the girne /lefkosa road to mate up ,and roundabout at the erener petrol station to finnish.can do the garage at Bogazkoy to home far end of lapta in 18 mins on a bike now and when the slip road is in, will probably save an other 5 mins off the jounrney but this is before any speed restrictions go on .Well done this government and the contractors

i think they have left the bit just at the karmi crossing without tarmac as they have realised that a ravine flows there and they are having to build a big pipe under the road for the flood water, so it floods the farmer next to the road
