Hi i was wondering if anyone could help on the following: 1) Where is good to get maternity clothes here? 2) Are there any exercise classes suitable for pregnant people? 3) Nursery furniture - where is best to buy it here (New stuff only)? 4) Is there anywhere to meet other pregnant women? 5) Is it better to give birth here or England? 6) Are there any allowances for the family? Look forward to hearing your answers

Tut Tut - sorry to be negative - but why would you want to come over to the TRNC and have a child ?? Because you are a non Cypriot, you'll have to pay for everything, and i've heard that the doctors are experts at getting you to have caeserians, because they make more dosh.. Then when your child is born, what possible future will he have there ?? - there is little or nothing for English kids to do, then when it comes time to get a job, what chances will he have - its obvious the TRNC Gov't don't want Brits working and competing with Turkish Cyps... What will you and your hubby do for work ? - you have little or no chance of getting a decent job in the TRNC....... The TRNC may look like a fabulous alternative to the UK, but the reality is far far from that, IMHO.....

Negative nick - you really live up to your name !!!! I am going to give birth to my first child in 5 weeks time here in the TRNC - there are some Drs here who will prefer to deliver babies naturally ( most unfortunately like the timing of a c section as not at weekend or nights ) I have been here for nearly 6 years ( happily and with a good job ) my husband ( Turkish ) has been here 10 years he has a good job too ( 5 years working in the same place for nice people !!!!! ) It really depends on personal circumstances !!!! And I for 1 am looking forward to bringing up a child in an environment that is not full of crime drugs and all the nasty things that come alongside both of these!!!!! Tuttut already lives and works here so she is well aware of the TRNC problems as well as the GOOD THİNGS and the good outways the bad IMHO!!!!!!! Rachel

Hi Airy Fairy, thank you for this advise yes it is great help. Im due late August. Negative nick.... well... i have a son of 6 and he loves it here, there is plenty for children to do, he speaks both turkish and english plays with bother turkish and english children. My husband and myself have been in full time employment since we have been here. I have been here nearly 3 years and my hubby 2 1/2. I honestly think that people that find it boring or that there is nothing to do here are not really looking. Me and my hubby have more of a social life here than when we were back in england and to be honest its not all about finding things to do it is qaulity time with your family which we have a lot of here. We are not sitting infront of the TV all the time, we go out enjoy ourselve. if you find it boring thats your opinion you dont put yourself out to do things and mingle, we have a fabulous group of mates and love it here. It does worry me having a child here but plenty ...

Tuttut, if you are so confident and sure about your choice and very happy with your doctor, why did you need to post asking whether it would be better to go back to the UK to give birth? You say both you and your husband are in good regular employment here - you've been here long enough to have found out all about whether you are entitled to claim any monies after the birth etc. can't you get any advice from your employers?

Oleander - The whole idea of putting posts on here is to get other people advise, is this not right? That is why i posted. Its not everyday that you are pregnant and this is a new thing for me here so i needed help. people that have already gone though the experiance are the best people to ask!!! I wanted to know if it was better to go back or have the child here and my opion is to have the child here. the same is said for my employee, i am the first person in the company to be pregnant so how would they now,. I said i have been employed since i ahve been here this company i ahve been with for over a year prior to that i was with another good company. Wow i feel like i cant post any questions now... maybe i should just write negative stuff all the time!! be like most of the people on here! wow i cant think of anything negative so no more posting for me then!. I thought a forum was to get help and advise, am i wrong in thinking this?

Congratulations to Tuttut and Airy Fairy and I wish you both well. I hope you stay close to each other so that the babies will be able to get to know each other. I do however feel sorry for Tuttut having to go through the hot hot summer, or maybe I am just jealous being stuck in the UK. Long life and happiness to you and your families.

Why not have a baby here., It was good enough for David Haye, and good enough for his trainer Adam (well, not them, but their wives) Both ladies were thrilled with everything to do it with. The caring, the birth, the aftercare etc, etc, and nothing to do with who they were. Or you can ask the lovely lady who runs The African Queen - she has had children here and is happy with it. Must confess I wouldn't like carrying into August, but that is when everyone else can show TLC. Maybe 20 years ago, it was tough, but things have moved so much here and it is pretty good all round. Hope it all goes well. Enjoy! And at least your children won't freeze to death!
