Ismet. The address exists - it's a block of flats. Just googled it.

Well it's obviously a scam, but the thing that bugs me is that there must be a Western Union representive in on this as they give a name, that's probably false, but an address that is real (as it's on the infamous Broadwater Farm Estate). To get hold of the cash a person must prove there identity and have means of proving their address. I am aware that lots of forged documents are flying around but very few are actually any good and most have obvious flaws in them. (A quick story here; I was working in bar. Asked to ID of person I was serving. Out comes driving licence. His photo but date of birth put him as someone in their 50's. He was escorted from the premises to the Police Station!)

The other option is that this is a real person and they do actually live there, but surely this would make them quite stupid!

The name is genuine, a senior civil servant in Nicosia who knows me through some ngo activity. Two clear clues:

1. How could she address me as "Hey" when she knows me well enough to ask money from me?

2. This e.mail is sent to "undisclosed recipients" which means that it was sent to many and not just me.

Very poor show but there may be some mugs to fall for it.

What a shame that you were asked for money cos I have dozens of e mails offering ME money, millions and millions of British pounds. I am to help this person get money out of Wogga Wogga or some such, cos of dead/dying relatives etc, etc. I am sure you have all had them. And of course, the person is writiung to ME and ME only - not by name of course, and again to 'Undisclosed Recipients'. Fortunately I am old enough and wise enough to know that this is identity fraud.

I also know that if anyone REALLY needed my help, they would phone.

Excuse me while I check the Euro Millions - it could be ME. But until that comes, sadly all the rest is scam.

Of course,Elko, if you wanted to contribute to the MarieBHoliday Fund, I wouldn't say anything other than 'Yes, thank you.'

Ismet

I would report it to the police in the area of the address

It is fraud after all

am sure we could find an e mail or address to police station...

if the address for the money to be sent is a true address, then whoever is in that flat knows whats going on with this scam...

The police may be able to set up a sting (is that what they call it)

some people out there are gullible to these scams, can we make it one less
