| 8 pm in Cyprus: sorry, no winner in the St Hilarion Castle quiz-1! The right answer (picture here: http://is.gd/8ifyJ ): this is broken pottery from the Lusignan era (1192-1489). When the roof of one of the cisterns (nr. 22 on my detailed map of St Hilarion) in the lower ward was repaired (during the British colonial rule, 1878-1960), the masons made cement and concrete on the spot and weren't bothered to use whatever they found there. The pieces really belong in a national (TRNC) museum, but unfortunately there is not one yet... |
