Mess 13: Entry is free but you will be asked for a donation on the door as you enter. We are doing it this way so we dont put off people with children (they can come to). Buckets rattlers will be walking round the event all evening tempting you to part with more money and there may be a time when you will be asked to raise an amount to have extra song from guest singers.

If you turn up early we hope to have the TV cameras there to film the event. So you could even get on the telly.

Be there or be square and miss an evening like you have never seen.

Its only the time aspect that we cant do an auction as we have over 6 hours of entertainment.

A BIG thank you to the Pia Bella Hotel for everythink thay are doing for us.

Sorry I am 'square' and as it ain't Wagner or Verdi, I can't join in, but I would come for an hour and rattle a bucket (wearing ear plugs, possib ly), and I will come and take pikkies of folk having the time of their life.

Any use????

Oh, and I would like to know who the special person is opening the event (cos you haven't asked me!) so that I can take a picture of that!

well after listening to for the first time snakes at shayna last night me and my wife thought it was great to not have to sit and listen to the usual karaoke and fat birds from curry houses,in fact it was a pleasure to listen to a skilled musician, this is the man to open your GRAND AID CHARITY EVENT

As far as I understand it. An appeal went out in the press for entertainers to come forward and offer their services. So if snakes has has not offered then I doubt he will be performing. But I guess he still has time to offer his talent to what looks like to be a outstanding evening of performances in aid of a geat cause.

Yes Tiger, as you say, performers have been asked to come forward and offer their services. So far, Snakes has not done so. But many great people have. Think it's going to be a great night.

A big thank you to all artistes who are giving up their time to become involved and to the people who are working so hard to put all of this together !!!

Birdyblaster, I am a bit confused. Whilst you were running down Karaoke artistes and being a bit personal and rude about people who sing at the local Indian restaurants, you mentioned your wife. When I looked to see who you are, you say you are single.....as I said....confusing.

ok.please tell me where i have run down karaoke artists?

ok.please tell me where i have been personal and rude?

now my voice.yes it was a pleasure and a change to listen to a good artists rather than to listen to karaoke and fat birds singing on karaoke in currie houses.

again my opinion,i never said which currie house or i never mentioned any artists,i just said karaoke.

so next time you read a thread make sure brain is in gear before mouth and fingers start operating.

yes i made my profile before i got married and i didnt think it a issue to change my profile as this is not a dateing site. it was you who jumped to conclusions about artists and fat birds.

This is out of order, bickering on a Topic that is aimed at helping people. Anna I know about the personel comments made by some people but I do not think it refers to you, everyone knows that you are a superb singer.

Whoever it refers to it is wrong. (Christ im not exactly slim) Did you see the disguting comments made my some Thicko's on the South side with regards to a really good afternoon at Guido's.

I just say well done to the organisers', and everyone involved,

We have an amazing 19 acts performing over 7 hour of great entertainment. To find out who is opening it you will need to be there. The Pia Bella will be arranging bar snacks that can be purchased over the bar and a full menu in the up stairs area so you wont miss the show when you eat. ITS NOT TO BE MISSED and now everybodies favourite performer i think will be there. Please remember all the people performing are STARS for giving there time for free.

Important Information please read.

I received information on Thursday afternoon that due to the law in the TRNC the organisers of the GRAND AID event cannot collect donations at the event (this includes a raffle). I was assured that they had NO problem with the event going ahead and they suggested that we raise money in a different way. Taking note of their suggestion we will not be collecting donations BUT we are asking you to add more credit than usual to your mobile phones before coming to the event as we will be asking you to do something a little different to donate money to help the Guzelyurt Flood victims. It is with regret that we will not be able to give money to the Haiti Earthquake appeal.

All acts have been contacted and updated on the situation and I am pleased to say ALL but 1 act have agreed to attend the event so we are still in for a BIG FUN NIGHT of entertainment. We have even had another act contact us which we have added.

Dont be late doors open at 3.30pm

With the rain we have had today the plight of the Guzelyurt victims has come alittle closer to home with flood problems all over the Girne and Lefkosa areas.

We can all still do our bit.

Unfortunately a great many of those who intend donating to the flood victims might now be in a position where they are in need of money themselves. Despite this I'm sure they will still PHONE THAT NUMBER!!!

Heartman I would love to hear exaclty why the powers that be will not stretch a point for this event. You will be doing the work of the government in helping others, and to give to Haiti shows that we are part of the caring world.

Could you write to me at my e mail and give me some info.

I am extremely disappointed (not for myself) but in view of many of the things that happen here, I would have thought you could have gone ahead.

Just an idea, but wouldn't Pia Bella allow it under ytheir banner. In other words if they agreed that this was THEIR event, SURELY they could collect money in their name and then hand over as requested.

Has this been discussed?

Anyway, I would like to hear more, and I am sure others would too.

Sometimes compassion means bending stupid rules.

By the way I would have offered to do a bit of singing, but as the LSO aren't available and I don't have a backing group, I am not offering. And unfortunately, I am not top of the pops. But the fact that so many

The Head of the District office was very helpful at the meeting I attended. I had a Turkish speaking friend with me so I got to find out exactly what the problem was. The law states that no person or group of people are allowed to collect money unless they are a registered charity. If you are a charity you must still give a receipt for each donation ie:- if 1000 people donated 1TL we would have needed to give 1000 receipts each named and signed. This law was brought in by the British in 1944. The way charities get round this is to sell tickets which are printed by the government and checked. The Head of the District office said this was to safeguard the people giving money and to ensure that all money goes to where it was originally promised. He has NO problem with it going ahead and he himself suggested (which is what we are doing) that we promote existing ways money can be donated whilst enjoying the evening.

Now we know the issues next time will be very different.
