| The 5000 metres is a tremendously exhausting race - Sven Kramer is, I believe, only 23 years old, so his stamina must be truly incredible - he certainly deserved his 'Gold'! |

| Well understood, Tenakoutoou! But..., the 10.000 metres (10 km) speed skating is the "Kings distance". Only the very fittest young men in this world (the women can't speed skate this distance) can do it. Try skating 30x 400 metres (the ring) in 29-30+ seconds from the start! South Koreans and Japanese are good sprinters - but only Americans, Norwegians and Netherlanders rule the 10 km. Every four years we think 'it can't go any faster' - every time someone does it. Like Sven Kramer on the 5000 metres: new Olympic record, new World record! Fascinating, personal sport! |

| Erratum: I wrote 30x 400 metres, but meant to say that 10 kilometres is 25x 400 metres of course. |
