Just the same as 1994 when we first came out to N Cyprus. Honestly, you couldn't tell the difference in the news reports! (Only the leaders have changed).

Meanwhile, back on planet Mars-

"The talks between the president of Cyprus, Dimitris Christofias, and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat are making "solid progress" according to United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon."

Yup.

He's a nice guy Ban-ki-Moon ,but not the brightest lamp in the street.

I would say that the UN has given up on an issue they didnt want to be involved in,and are just going thro the motions .Remember the abuse Kofi got after 2004,would think ,once bitten twice shy.

When these talks fail, I dont think the TRNC will be alone in being isolated even if its only politically. There has to be a limit on the time that can be constantly given to the ROC,by EU institutions. There are 500million other people in EU that need looking after as well as the ROC,and maybe some of them want a little shot.

The only way out of another 20 years of this, would be to appoint an international panel, acceptable to both sides.

Their decision would be final.

Its disconcerting that there is not even a whisper of an agreement ,never mind getting it voted on.

the GCs would rather see a " status quo " than sign a deal that benefits northern cyprus and thats the problem what have they to loose . untill a deal is forced on them ( if thats possible ?) from outside i cant see anything changing
