The EU wants to bring in a law to force all drivers to have their lights on in the daytime. It has something to with global warming or some such nonsense.

Maybe for the same reason that motor cyclists drive with their headlights on - so you can see them!



Much better than not being seen and then being hit by some plonker who is not looking anyway!



Its a bit like asking why do workmen wear bright jackets when they are not working!!!!



If I had them fitted on my old wreck I would switch them on and leave them on, but then old motor cyclists like to see lights, it reminds them of why they used to switch their's on and still wonder why the car driver never saw them when they pulled out in front. Wonder if this is why I never order a "T Bone"????

Did you realise that a few years ago many drivers in the TRNC used to drive with no lights on at night - was that to do with global warming too?

same reason they drive right up your ar*e, overtake on blind bends, turn without indicating, indicate without turning, chuck crap from their cars, drive while on the phone and the best one I've seen to date was driving with the drivers leg and foot sticking out of the window ! Amazing.

I might have been wrong about the lights and global warming that could have been health and safety. Now, turning off your ignition everytime you stop, even at traffic lights was defiantly global warming. I put this nonsense down to lead poisoning from car pollution, I would hate to think they were just insane - HELP!

There was something on the news tonight about that the government are proposing switching to driving on the right in the TRNC from 01/01/2012. This is to come into line with the Turkish mainland and the rest of Europe. The government are proposing that buses and lorries comply first then all other private vehicles from 01/01/2013.

As far as modern cars are concerned, indicators are an optional extra here, so why pay money for something that is not needed!!



I think in most cases, the fog lights have been switched on by the child sat on dads lap while driving and because dad does not know about warning lights on the dashboard..............

I'm more concerned with drivers at dusk with no lights on. They don't seem to realise that lights are for being seen as well as seeing. Rule of thumb... if you can see an oncoming car's lights before you see a car with no lights on... everyone should have their lights on!



In Denmark cars have their headlights wired so that they are always on when the engine is running. Remembering to switch on to comply with this law (driving in a non-Danish car) takes a bit of getting used to. It makes sense for cars to be visible.



The annoying thing about fog lights when it's not foggy is that they are generally aimed in such a way as to shine directly into your eyes as you approach the car and when you are tailing a car with rear fogs on they are often bright enough to make you squint - which becomes tiring on the eyes.

Why they have fogs on when it's not foggy? I'm sure it's got nothing to do with children or not knowing they are on... it's because they want to show that their car is sufficiently up to date.



It's like the early days of mobile phone owners who used to pretend to be making phone calls in a loud voice all the time just so you could marvel at how well off they must be to afford a mobile brick....



That soon abated when comedians started taking the pi55 out of them for looking like total dick-heads...



What we need is some Turkish comedians like Recep Ivedik to make fun of 'fog light fashion victims'.

I can never understand why the authorities make such a song and dance about mud flaps on this usually arid island, but ignore badly adjusted lights which makes driving at night so dangerous.
