Saw a local electrical retailer is advertising 42" Samsung Plasma TV's (42B430P2) for 384 GBP including stand...

At this rate, they'll be giving them away with every 5 gallons of petrol.....

Hi, I am new to this forum, I wondered if you would be able to name the place the televisions are at, I have friends who have an apartment in Alsancak and need to replace their faulty tv when they come over in May.

Kind regards

Angie

In a recent report it is stated that burglaries are now showing a significant decrease since their day in the 1980's. Today's burglars are not interested in what we have in our home, as there is no second hand value in it.

Whereas in the old days, TV's, Videos, DVD Players, Stereos were stolen and fetched a good price, with todays low prices they are just not worth the risk. Todays burglar is looking for gold, mobile phones and Ipods. If he is desperate he will take your car keys.

One crime that has significantly risen is muggings. It is thought that this is now the prefered way of the old style burglar to make his money.

For everyone who's missed NN's 'cryptic' sense of humour, I believe he is talking of the price of TV's in Thailand - please don't waste your time looking for these sort of prices in NC.

Nick - you're also a little out of touch (I believe) with the latest prices of huge televisions (and many other electrical items) in the UK nowadays - and they're getting cheaper by the week. As Timothy Cadman has pointed out, quite rightly, there is no profit to be made by trying to sell nicked second hand electrical items, as they are now all so cheap.

Still, the weather's nice in Thailand

I think he should get a life, or at least enjoy the one he has in Thailand and keep off this board for a bit.

On a serious note you can get some good deals on TV's from the Pioneer shop in Girne:

SAMSUNG LCD 32" 900tl (£380), 40"1600tl (£670), 46" 2100tl (£880) or PLAZMA 42" 1400tl (£590), 50" 2300tl (£960).

Compare that to 3 years ago when a 32" SAMSUNG LCD was over £600... they've definately come down alot!

I agree NN's house is in a wonderful location and a magnificent building and i would like further to comment on his generosity in letting those poor homeless immigrants live there while he is away.
