Due to me going back to the UK, I am looking for a kind home for my Pointer cross dog. He is 3 years old and originally from KAR, he was brought to them at 3 months old after being treated badly. He is a lively, loving dog and wants nothing more than a kind home.

Unfortunately I can't take him with me as I have to work in the UK and he isn't used to being on his own.

Can somebody please help!

You are dead right Lilli. I think a lot of folk are reluctant to re-home.

Should anyone take a dog and their circumstances were to change they would probably rely on the 44 community to help them re-home it, and seeing the hellfire and damnation bestowed apon any poor soul who asks for a new home for their much loved pooch is enough to put anyone off!!

I'd love to have a dog here and it would have a lovely home, but will I be here in 5, or even 10 years...who knows.

And according to so many poster on 44 if I cant promise that then I shouldnt have one!

Yet ANOTHER Brit returning and leaving their dog behind. I always ask them the question what are they going to do with their dog if they cannot find it a new home. No one ever answers that.

So why keep on asking? Where is it going to get you? And it certainly is not helpful!

I think it may be helpful. If it makes people stop and ask that question before they take on another trusting animal, then it is worth asking.

I get so fed up with reading these posts on here.poor animals abandoned to their fate, it is just not fair or responsible.

On that basis, no one would ever take on an animal from KAR. Would you prefer that?

Thanks for your comments. When I came to Cyprus I had no intentions of leaving, unfortunately my circumstances have changed and I am just trying to find my beautiful dog a new home! If I could take him with me I would and it doesn't help matters when all you get is someone having a go for trying to do the right thing in a very difficult situation.

If someone could take him to a good home I would be truly grateful and as I said before I would support him cost wise.

When I had to move up to istanbul from Antalya in 1996 I sent my dog and cat to England. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to leave them in Antalya. I couldn't take them to istanbul as I would be living in a flat. After quarrantine my cat was rehomed with a young family in my parents' village, and my parents took the dog. When I moved to Cyprus from istanbul I had two cats and I brought these with me. One sadly died a couple of years ago but the other is just about still going - he's 16. I now have 3 cats and if I ever had to leave the island, I would take them with me. I would probably have to beg or steal for the quarrantine money but where I go, they go.

By the way, the dog was a rescued dog from Ankara when I was working there in 1993 and she is still going strong, currently living on the Isle of Wight!! She is also bi-lingual and my poor mother (who isn't) has to shout some commands in Turkish to get a response!
