We are coming over to TRNC shortly and would welcome any tips for restaurants or bars in the area which serves good food in a good atmosphere.

Would prefer to eat out rather than at our hotel which i am sure is great but would like to sample some 'traditional fayre' rather than buffet/international.

I believe that Bogaz harbour has some great little eateries, any recommendations.

Also, what do you know about the development in Bafra, i saw the other posting. Is there a site where i can find out more as it sounds HUGE and very exciting, Casino's, Hotels etc..... When is it due for completion and how will it compare to the rest of the island ?

Thanks, any tips welcome.

Most of the Bogaz road restaurants are fine, but they can get busy with Greek Cypriot tourists heading for the Apostolos Andreas Monastery. As a result they are probably more pricey than you would expect. Better to head down the road 2km to the "Moon over the Water" ex-pat bar, which is cheaper. Just check it's open if you come to the TRNC before May.

Or, drive to Kaplica and join the locals as the Kaplica restaurant, which is right on the beach and very popular at weekends. As you can see from the web site ( http://www.kaplicabeach.8m.com ) it wouldn't win any awards for the decor, but the sish kebab is very good indeed!

Try lunch at Kemlin Yeri in Bogaz, well known for its fresh fish. Tel: 371 2515. Or if you want to venture into the peninsula, I reckon the Theresa Hotel at Yeni Erenkoy is often overlooked. Yes, it's pretty basic, but the fish in its restaurant is fresh off the boats at Bogaz, and the bill won't break the bank either. If you want to stay overnight, a double B&B is just 30 Euros. Tel: +90 392 374 42 66, http://www.theresahotel.com
