| has anyone seen any of the following products anywhere in trnc pls shortening frying canola oil ( trans fat free ) & oil butter alternative soybean ( trans fat free ) |

| i have seen spry vegetable shortening but no idea what its made out of its sort of whipped and solid in a tin, and it makes great pastry |

| canola is the Aussie name for rape seed oil |

| looked it up and yes one type of rape seed oil is canola but not all it seems , i there rape seed oil here in trnc then ? |

| hi. you will not find rape seed oil or canola oil in the trnc. for what you need your oil butter- soybean oil (not a very nice oil if not "eco-oil") ? if you want frying oil, use peanut oil (i have seen it in the south) or cocunut oil.(also nearly na in the trnc) or olive oil. the best frying oils are oils with many saturated fatty acids with(out or) maybe one monounsaturated fatty acid. oils with polyunsaturated fatty acids are not good for frying (often too exoensive as well). make sure that your oil never reaches temps above 190 degree celsius. get a infrared thermometer. this avoids forming of trans fats somehow good. |
