Easy andy-f, just go google, google north cyprus forum, then click the Friendly forum, but its having a few probs at the min, some sort of attack.... But do try and join as the forum welcomes new members to join in and chat and it has a private message system which is what a lot of members use instead of emailing.

Looks like its back on track, I have even been able to post in there this morning. There does seem to be a lot of 'guests' and usually a large influx of guests is what brings it down. Fingers crossed.

How do we know who is or who is not of any particular ethnicity?



People don't get banned because of their ethnic origin or for their views on this (well I do) or Nige's board only for stepping outside the rules.



The most common transgression being the lack of personal courtesy and use of insulting language. Second I guess is badgering other people in an aggressive manner. Don't do these things and you don't get banned.



The reason GCs don't post here? How do we know they don't?

I think some people make up their own rules as they go along, don't you? When you say: "badgering other people in an aggressive manner" do you mean sending people unsolicited PMs or e-mails? If so then I would agree with you. However, if you really mean members being banned simply for saying - within all the board rules - things others don't happen to agree with, then all I'll say is my father fought in a war against fascism and dictatorship and I abhor these evils in any shape of form - even BBs.

Badly educated I don't think so. The level of debate between GCs and TCs on that forum just doesn't exist on any expat forum and is worth following to learn about Cyprus. You would expect ex-pats (the ones on "exchange" property) to come under attack, as you or I would do so against someone occupying our parents' property. The trick is giving as good as you get, which is what Vaughan does. Also he's one of the few from this forum who has the courage to post under his own name.

Perhaps when I have a look at the Cyprus Forum, I am looking at the wrong threads? Admittedly, I tend to have a look at 'general chat', on which a large proportion of topics (and certainly those which attract most posts) seem to be aimed at the British ex-pats living on stolen land and usually contributed to by the same crew (see message 39, above). As I have said, I could well be looking in the wrong place, but healthy debate between GC's and TC's I have yet to see.

There was 'another' poster that thought that blaming the sites themselves for illegal cyber attacks on them was appropriate. Almost akin to a 'threat' - maybe if you behave this way you wouldnt be subject to illegal attacks. That poster didnt use his real name either. Perhaps you know him, I suspect you do, intimately.



As for cyprus-forum being a paragon of free speech, think again. It is a commercial site and if you threaten the owners percived commercial self interest you will be banned and quickly and efficently, unlike the enforcment of any of their other 'rules'.
