John,

Did you book? As Kleftiko takes up to eight hours to prepare booking is usually advised.

Where did you get the scraps just so we know not to go.

Try Valley View Restaurant just past the Acapulco hotel on the Esenteppe road. They also do them at the restaurant by Buffavento on the Mountain pass. Local families use both at weekends and both restaurants have excellent comments made about them. As stated above phone and order first.

As scoobydoo said - try Erols - we had kleftico there last November (Wed night special I think) - we had a Turkish friend with us and he said it was the best kleftico he had ever had - sound recommendation. We enjoyed it. Think you may have to order it when you book.

According to Greg Keenan of Glencoe Trading the best Kleftico is either the restaurant on the top of the hill opposite the car park for Buffavento Castle, or Alkan Holiday Village restaurant. I have not tried either of these restaurants but will when I am next out in March. I think Greg is fairly hard to please so his 9/10 for Buffavento and 10/10 for Alkan Holiday Village as long as it is done in their clay oven, is a pretty good indicator.

Baspinar Bob, most restaurants use lamb not goat unfortunately. I think goat is much nicer

stilluvithere.

Contrary to most expat's beliefs goat is more common in Cypriot owned restaraunts than lamb.

And I'll try once more: in TURKISH Northern Cyprus this food isn't called kleftico or kleftico but "küp kebab". Kleftico is Greek.
