The South becoming completly under the control of the Russians and East Europeans. It is fast becoming that way now and the South ending up as a hovel (Greece certainly cant help them out with all their problems at the moment).I dont think that the South have the money, or will the European Union be willing to spend the money to bring the South up to European standards . In the North Turkey taking TRNC under its wing to become a holiday Island for Turkish mainlanders. The infrastructure in the North will vastly improve due to money from Turkey and the USA.The money from the USA coming in way of payment in kind in exchange for bases in Turkey. In the next 10 years a big change of population in the North. The Europeans will have gone leaving the door wide open for a mass influx of up and coming rich Turks.I would expect the North to become the old Cyprus clean, charming and exclusive.

Msg 4 No1 I think mainly due to the lack of security with their properties. I will stick my neck on the line and say that if people knew what they no now a good 60% would not have even bought in the first place .As the european market will obviously dry up the markets that are left are the non-european .Young rich Turks = Summer Villas = Culture the same , backed by money from 2 major powers = very nice property Thank You very much . The big question is will the Eupopeans sell low enough to non-europeans just to spite the GC and has the result of the Orhams case so far become a double edge sword for the GC ?

Like we have said before, the TRNC could be another Monaco. As long as they don’t do something silly and end up in the EU. Patientia est a donum superum.

Who the hell wants TRNC to become another Monaco ??? Mind you, as I have said often enough, it has already been spoilt by Brit expats. Perhaps you could all return to dear old England then you would not have to worry about it's future. Hopefully it will return to the days when decent people retired there not just for cheap property!!!

In ten years' time, Turkey will be a powerful EU country leading Mid-East without a Cyprus problem and Kurd problem. TRNC will be history, instead, a federal Cyprus will be established.

charb. Interesting that last year, USAID, through the UNDP-Action for Cooperation and Trust (ACT) project and together with the British High Commission, sponsored a workshop to examine practical ways in which the overall design of budgetary frameworks and of fiscal policy can help support economic convergence in the case of a Federal Cyprus. This event was organized by Oxford University and The Management Centre of the Mediterranean. Funded by USAID and implemented by UNDP, ACT supports principles of multiculturalism and provides Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots the resources and opportunities to jointly build the foundations for a sustainable solution to the Cyprus Problem

Message 10 I find your post very offensive, I have retired here, not for cheap property but because we have visited for almost twenty years and love TRNC, there was never any question as to where we wanted to end our days. We are decent people who have worked hard all of our lives and have no intention or desire to attempt to change TRNC into Little England, what gives you the right to judge people you have never met, after all according to your profile you still live in the UK.

I totally agree with Hatttikins. My 'wish list' for Cyprus in 10 years time is for it to be a safe and prosperous part of the world where the statutory and legal services are recognised, supported and regulated and the whole island populated by people who live in harmony, value diversity and respect their fellow man.
