Does anyone know at what stage you are legally committed to proceed on a sale or purchase,

ie if you change your mind before you sign contracts are you liable to be sued.

Interested in your replies Thanks

No, of course not. There are no contractual obligations until terms of the contract are agreed and ratified by both parties by signature (usually witnesssed)

I would have thought that before putting a property on the market you would think long and hard if its what you want to do if it is go for it,

I did and sold mine very quick but they only gave me a few weeks to vacate my apt so had to find other accommodation for a few weeks. But it was a good decision and don't regret it one bit. I wouldnt or couldnt have pulled out after doing all the paperwork and running around. I probably have got a bill for wasting people's time.

Thats my reason

If you have not signed a contract then you have not agreed to anything yet so how can it be legally binding?
