Hello Izzet, I have so far enjoyed being a member on this web site/forum.

It is a great contact and information site for North Cyprus. I have had several people helping me with information along with myself helping others that require info etc.

I think most people on this forum would agree that if you join, you should without question put specific details on the sign up membership boxes.

There have been some obnoxious people and remarks made on some threads and its normally the people that remain anonymous/limited details!!!

CAN you please make some of the info boxes compulsory....in order to join?

Thank you nunu1

hi nunu1 , i had no reason to hide my details up until some months ago , then , there were some people who's posts on the forum were really quite frightening and things got nasty for awhile and it was for that reason i opted to hide my details ,

regards , simbas

Hi simbas - I don't think Nunu1's comments were directed at people like us who opted to hide our email addresses, more to the people who are trying to sell their products but who are making themselves look suspicious because they have left every option blank.

Have a good day

Showing my email address has not been a problem, apart from a certain pool company who obtained info from site and keeps sending unwanted unrequested information.

What kind of details you think should be on the member page?

Please list.

Hi Simbas

I know exactly what your saying ..I also removed my details for a while after I received what almost amounted to a death threat back in April. Fortunately I'm still here!!!!!

Izzet

Can I suggest that we have a full members list rather than just a top members list. this would allow a quick link into every members profile

Izzet, I think people that want to join should supply their real name, Occupation and location. They should NOT need to give date of birth, marital status or e-mail address.

People cannot be taken serious if they are not prepared to at least list their basic details?

Maybe other members may agree or have other detail preferences?

Thank you it is a good web site!.................nunu1

But how will anyone know if the name/email/lolcation etc is real?

All someone would have to do is make then all up, post nice things till unmoderated, then post/say anything, meanwhile, collect the email adress'

I don't see how it will policed without traceabe data, i.e. credit card number and associated check etc. and that costs money and time, and you're then into proffesional moderation and possibly membership.

Whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We could talk about this till the cows come home and the TRNC Solution is finalised!.............?

Izzet, it is up to you.......this is your Web site......I personally would not let anybody in/signup unless they give some details about themselves for peace of mind and security....................................?

I think many people/members on this site are probably nervous to say anything.....But would welcome a more secure honesty site.

Please make at least 3 to 4 detail options compulsory to join this forum site. In the interest of security and happy Forum members, I think you should consider the options...? Do you think it is reasonable, acceptable or legally binding to have a member join giving only 1....Yes One detail in the joining form?

NO....I Dont think that is acceptable....What do others think?

Thank you nunu1

All, in addition to this Forum site and adding comments, please think before posting your message?......Yes...? No what I mean...?

Some of the threads that are on a serious subject, issue or topic ie responses are Pathetic, Childish and a waste of time and just block a good topic disscussion into a load of Blah Blah Eyewash!!!!!

Sorry folks....just look back at some of them.....!.....?

I have had no problems in putting my details on the forum, apart from unrequested emails regarding pools (like Pilgrim has experienced)

Some people may not put their details on as they wish to retain their privacy and have no hidden agenda apart from wishing to occassionally join in the topics that interest them.

This is a forum and people post what they wish and yes it can turn into backbiting/'childish' postings but the people who post these have to accept the responsibility of what they post and face the potential backlash it may create.

As for some of the topics that appear, I either do not bother reading it (as the title tells me I would not be interested e.g. Euro/football) or may click on and read the first bit if it does not interest me then I do not bother continuing.

It would be a good idea if there was a separate section for people selling services/products to post what they have to offer and then people have the choice to read them if they have a particular interest/query.

Enjoy the weekend everyone

Izzet,

Great site as it is. If it ain't broke, it don't need fixin. Where there is backbiting or offensive postings the other members can usually sort it, or ignore it, as required. 99% of postings are

either informative, or downright good fun! The sites strength is its lack of regulation!

If you only allowed people to join via a non webbased email address ie yahoo or hotmail then it reduces the risk of being abused. Some boards do this.

Agree with wynyardman though.

Lesson in internet:

Bear in mind anything you place on the net is accessible to the world (exeption of N Korea and Burma).

Even if you post something on say Facebook, as our friends did of their kids, then realised this, and deleted it, it's still on the server.

I can show you very simply how even if you delete something from your hard drive,it's still there, and often fully recoverable, so just bear in mind before posting that deleted stuff is still there.

Maybe set up a dedicated BB email (I have brian_bbmail@yahoo.co.uk ) which auto forwards to your real mail, this wa y you can filter any junk and the sender doesn't have your real mail, you can then change this if a problem persists.

Finally, as Wyn rightly says, in the main, it ain't broke, and given the amount of extremely useful info you receive, the odd mail is a small price to pay for the huge benefit, and you never know, you may even want a liner pool one day!

Happy (and careful) posting.

b

And remember, just because you're not paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not out to get you!
