I live next to the new harbour and have just noticed a substancial amount of oil coming ashore to the right of the new harbour, enviromnmentally this is a disaster, I have called a Cypriot freind and he is going to call the coastguard but feel they wont do much about it, got some pics which i will put on facebook. The coast guard is right next to where the slick is coming in

That looks nasty. Is it still coming in? And any clue where it's coming from?

The oil looks looks like what a lot of ships comenly do, is flush their waste tanks at sea, the oil then floats into the nearest coastline, its illegial, but still happens.

was it that tanker that hung around for days the other week? Can cope with water but oil slick..hard to disperse!

could it possibly be 'home grown' i.e. some misguided person or persons dumping waste oil in one of the local ravines and now being washed staight into the sea by the torrential rain? When one sees some of the waste being dumped it would not surprise me

Im sure its from the mainland thats been washed into the sea by the run off from the flood waters.
