30% of years rain in 1 day

I just looked at a website posted on this forum sometime ago according to their records and the amount of rain today I reckon we have had 30% of our annual rain fall today that's if my math is correct check it out on http://www.nigelheasman.com/wview/img/Current_Plus.htm

i hate to gloat but we usually get forum threads saying about the lovely weather in cyprus whilst we are struggling to get our cars out because of snow,pissing down with rain and freezing our nuts off in the uk,i'm happy to announce that its been really lovely in cornwall,sunny most of the day! lol x

Well i managed to mop up 17 buckets of water!! And i still have a bathroom to do!! (and 2 very smelly dogs to wash!) aah the joys!

Sporty carry on gloating in 2 or 3 days time we will probably be basking in sunshine like last saturday so hot I burnt .Eat your heart out I've had hols in cornwall mid august and frozen my nuts off

Scootex. Your statistic is probably about right. What you have to remember though, is that nearly all the rainfall in Cyprus falls in the 3 months December, January & February. With this in mind this puts the 30% statistic, on one very wet day in February, back into context & then it isn't as remarkable.

Normally, no rain falls at all in June, July & August & the remaining 6 mths hardly get any, either.

For those that haven't visited Nigel Heasman's website, you need to check out all the pages. In particular the weather summary is fascinating with statistics for past years from 2006 & records of daily & monthly rainfall & other facts in this 4 + years period. These records can be found right at the bottom of this page. The rainfall bar charts are excellent too.
