Many many people will be made homeless tonight due to the flooding, if you have any spare blankets or duvets i will be collecting them in the bridal shop at Alsancak and i am sure Liz will also collect them in Guidos.

How are you going to get the blankets to them, Teresa? Isn't the Red Cross (or whatever they are) doing that? But more importantly, where will the homeless go?

Marion as soon as the water levels drop we can deliver any blankets we collect, it will all be done via Nuket from SOS, i have just spoken to her and will ring her again tomorrow to see what else is needed.

From the sounds of it, girls, it is pretty wide, from Tatlisu and across and up to Nicosia and beyond. And it sounds as if some people have had a really awful time, and before anyone 'blames' the government, there are just not the facilities here. That is why I wonder where the homeless will be put. If the hospital have had to move up a floor, where is there? Maybe some of the mosques could take people in, but that is only conjecture.

The idea of combining with Grand Aid sounds good. Who is in charge of it? Anyone know.

Thanks Teresa. Do find out if clothing will be required, because if it is the same situation as Guzelyurt, it could be that it is not just blankets. Nuket will know, I am sure.

Could I ask if for anyhone living nearer to Lefkosia whether stuff should be dropped into SOS village? For if the roads to Lefkosia are closed (or still in a bad way) then maybe it could be expedient to have a drop off point up there.

And sorry, I have no idea about the situation in the south. They often get quite different weather tous, although I have bene there in the past when I was wading through Paphos in water thigh high, but it was September and it was warm which made things a little more comfortable.

So wait to hear from Teresa - thanks.
