I've got a recipe book from my sister for the most interesting curries. But has anyone heard of fenugreek leaves - what are they and can we get the here? Thanks.

Try Tempo as they tend to have a good selection of Indian spices but I think you will only find the powder. Ileli might be worth a try too. Other option is to ask someone to bring some from UK.

Hi, Fenugreek leaves are more commonly known as methi leaves I believe. I buy them quite often from an asian supermarket near where we live in the UK as their flavour makes a huge difference to home made curries. Last week when I bought some there was a sign on the box saying "methi leaves from Cyprus". It may be that they come from the south, but have you tried the Wednesday market in Girne, they may have some there? Well worth the hunt! Jayne

I get my Fenugreek in the Asian shops in Glasgow - methi in Hindi - and the dried leaves are used in meat dishes, tikka etc. Can bring some over if you have any problem.

I have Methi leaves, always bring back from the Uk, But this is the interesting bit, I took my Chef in my Indian Restaurant in England some herbs that our tukish neighbour in Baspinar had given us in summer She picked them from her garden and it looked like a weed, My chef recognised them right away as Methi. So yes they grow here, get the tgurkish name and ask a local. Also all of our Coriander we use in our Restaurant is always from Cyprus, (The Darkside)
