We currently have Norton Anti Virus on our laptops, we can remember reading somewhere that this is not the best anti virus programme to use here in north Cyprus. Can I ask what other members use and the cost of their programme.

hi nigel, we have avg 7.5 as well but think it is comeing too an end on the

25 june. they are offering an upgrade to avg 8.but at a cost of £39.95,some of

the other free systems, seem to slow the computer down, perhaps someone

on the forum, with IT skills could advise on the best system to install.

AVG always try to sell you the upgraded version at the end of the term. Just ignore it and re-install if necessary to keep the free version. Benn using it for years now. Never had any problems with it. Would highly recommend it.

Agree with Karen, they always try to get you to use the paid for version. I've downloaded free AVG 8 on to several computers and all is fine. There was scares on some forums that this new version would not be updated automatically, but this has turned out to be false. Download from http://www.download.com or http://www.filehippo.com

Hi Guys

I am an IT manager with many years experience. So if you need to hear it from an IT expert here goes.

AVG is about the best you can get for free. If 7.x coming to an end. Download the new version, then uninstall the 7.x version and immediately install V8 and you will be OK. Do not try to upgrade as this will quite often go wrong. Best to do a clean install with V8.

On the AVG site they also have a rootkit detection and cleanup tool for free. I recommend that everyone installs this and runs it at least once. Always best to be safe than sorry.

If you need any other advice, do not hesitate in contacting me.

its a data traveler that plugs in to a usb port.

USB pen drives stopped being cool about 10 years ago, but what happens when you stick a microSD card reader on board? It gets cool again, that's what. Kingston's DataTraveler Micro does just that, and even holds up to 4GB of onboard memory inside the thumbdrive itself. The reader can read not only microSD cards, but microSDHC and Memory Stick Micro
