Hmm, I'd say it was a somewhat 'biased' and unrealistic article..

1/ A Greek Cypriot would point out that that they think Britain let THEM down by not responding to either the Greek Military Junta sponsored Coup or the subsequent Turkish Invasion / ‘peace movement’ [where more Cypriots died in 8 weeks than at any time since (at least) the Ottoman invasion ].

2/ The article ‘assumes’ that any future TC representative at the talks will have a ‘free hand’ – they won’t.. a historical fact..

3/ It assumes that the TCs have been ‘hard done’ by the UN EU etc,. following the actions of TR and subsequent UDI – ignoring the fact that this was ‘exactly’ what their, then, leader wanted – Taksim – and thinking there will be vast changes in attitude to ‘TRNC’ is baseless in fact ( or even conjecture ) as long as the UN Security Council Resolutions remain in place and the ‘rump’ RoC have the support – in principle’ of Russia and China.

The future will be decided by TR and Court decisions

mmmmm

Most articles are somewhat biased, however I think most people agree on the headline' crisis point.'

Any one watching the antics over the past year would have to conclude, with the emphasis put on who talked to who, what title were people to negotiate under, and who sat where, rather than actually negotiating the main issues, the talks were never really intended to work.

"The future will be decided by TR and Court decisions"

Tend to agree with you on that one,or both economies will eventually revert to 3rd world status,

TRNC, although they dont have to pay any compensation demanded by ECHR ,is losing out financially in the property market, made worse as very little else to fall back on. The ROC although not having the same property market trouble ,will have to abide by ECHR compensation awards which will become extremely hard to afford.500,000 euros penalty for just one and half villas !. Cyprus will end up with the poorest of populations with the richest of lawyers.

A bit of a generalisation there. Most news articles in Cyprus may be biased because they are largely writing for a gullible readership who tend to believe what they read if it makes them feel better.

Conversely they can get enraged when reading a well-researched article which does not chime with their perceived versions of events. They then accuse the writer of GC bias, the world being against them etc etc.

Meant articles in general , anywhere.

Why should anyone be enraged that you have a GC bias, everyone in the world is biased towards something or someone.I am biased towards Europe, I have never known anyone to get enraged at me because of that, and why would anyone think the world is against them just because they are of a different opinion.

I just said most newspaper articles are biased. If you disagree thats fine . The press in UK is biased towards either Labour or Tory. You are biased, I am biased about many things. The papers in Cyprus will be biased depending where they are based. If you can find a ROC paper that supports the TRNC and vice versa ,fair enough.

Cyprus talks are in crisis is a fact, ROC or TRNC bias decides who is to blame ,not the resu

I was listening to a very lovely man last night - one of those very intleligent, but gentle-men whoi are Tjurkish Cypriot and yet who have experienced other places in the world, and so has a very balancede thinking. He also served for a long period on the Government here, and he, and others to whom I have spoken, are pretty certain that after 65 sessio9ns of 'talks' (sometimes shouting sessions, I believe!? - but I cannot be sure), the two leaders have revealed nothing, and therefore many are of the opinion that Plan B will come into operation.

Because the GC side does not seem to want to 'compromise' as the British Government says both sides must do, then I guess the north will become established as a Republic of Turkey - boom, boom!
