Hi, our grandaughter and some of her friends want to come over to stay in the summer. No problem with them coming out as we can bring them but they may have to go back on their own (Peguses to Stansted). Does anyone know the minimum age to travel unaccompanied?

They will probably be able to travel if they are 7-13 but will probably need an unacompanied minors form filled out by their guardian.

The person delivering them and meeting them need to be there while the palne is on the ground.

I can't tell you more over the weekend.

Thanks for the reply. The girls are all 13 years. It was not clear from the website whether they could travel unaccompanied.

Our daughter travelled from Ercan to Stansted with a friend when she was 12, it was very easy, when you check in you advise the airline company they are travelling alone, all you need is the name of the person collecting at Stansted, they must bring with them proof of id or the child will not be released to them, the child is then given a big sticker and taken to the airport offices and looked after until the flight is ready. They are escorted to the plane and sit in the front of the aircraft, all very civil. When they land someone at Stansted escorts them through security, gets their luggage and takes them through to the arrivals hall, where mum/dad will be waiting. Our daughter felt very grown up and I would have no problem with my grandaughter who is 10 using this great facility. We flew then with CTA but I think Pegasus would be just the same. Very responsible. Hope this helps

Pamela Msg7

From experience it is normally the parents and grand parents who are panicky about minors-flights vary rarely the children who are far too grown up to worry.

Tom, that is typical! However, without wishing to worry anyone unnecessarily, what happens if, as has happened to me more than once, passengers are turfed off the aircraft at Istanbul without any reason or advice being given.

Would you trust airline staff to ensure that the youngsters are OK?
