Morning,

We're thinking of organising a fund raising event. Something a bit different. Proceeds will be donated to a Cancer Charity here in North Cyprus.

The act is a fantastic Stage Hypnotist. There would also be a raffle with great prizes at grabs. Plus there will be music through out the night with one of the islands top DJ's.

But, we wanted to get some feedback and see if people would be interested in coming first!

Tickets would be 35tl.

It will be at the beginning of May, help you shake off those winter cobwebs and bring summer in with a laugh.

We would really appreciate if you can tell us if you'd come along or not. We really want to do this, but for obvious reasons there is no point if there isn't any interest.

Thank you.

We're not sure on the venue yet, it will depend how we're looking for numbers to be honest. We've a smaller and a bigger option!

Zerochlor, we discussed ticket price a lot, don't want to put anyone off by having it too high, but equally it has to be worth while, so can't price it too low. We thought about various other nights, the Comedy nights were £20 I believe.

This isnt a definite price though, and if people think it's too much we would of course consider dropping it. We'd prefer more people at a lower price than a few at a higher one.

What would you suggest Zerochlor - no silly answers please!!

Sounds like a great idea to me - and I agree with fishh, something different is needed apart from the same old singers/tribute acts that you get everywhere.

I saw one of these shows in the UK years ago and it was absolutely hilarious.

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted.

Just out of interest, what do the rest of you think about the ticket price? 35tl too much?

Thanks Lilli. Fingers crossed we will get enough interest in the next few days, then we'll get going with organising it.

35TL seems ok to me for a good act, and it is for charity after all

Here's my 50 kouros-worth of thinking.

I didn't go to the comedy because to my husband the cost of £20 was a joke! Sorry!

But if you are doing just a show, that is one thing (I saw a hypnotist at Aberyswyth where the biggest joke is the weather!).

If you are doing a meal as well, then that is another!

Try Mountain View for a great buffet etc, etc and keep the cost to a minimum. After all if it is a triumph you could do it again???

Be careful under which banner you do it won't you. There are sometimes snags you don't expect.

But count me in for any help you may need. Have a pair of hands and a computer if that is any good.

Don't think I would be a 'victim' cos I saw people doing some of the strangest of things that would make their mothers ashamed of them!

Oops, Forgot. Please consider Kemal Saracoglu who want to build the first ever hospice here in N.Cyprus.

Sorry but it is one of my latest 'things' over which I am extremely enthusiastic.

Now here is a question to NC Weddings. If I volunteer to make a fool of myself - and I will even wear high heels and a short skirt to go with it - could I get a cheapie ticket as Press! That way I get to have fun, get a story and you get extra entertainment. Then the price of 35tl won't hurt the pocket of 'Im downstairs.

Just waiting for final Approval from the Charity - want to make sure there are no hiccups on that front.

And also waiting for a venue to say yay or nay.....won't be much point doing it if most of the money is gone before we've started.

I will be on here to let you know as soon as we set!

Thanks for the feedback from everyone too.

35 lira is far too expensive to see a show - just my opinion and quite clearly in the minority with this thought. Everyone else obviously earns far more than i do !!

35L for a show only, I agree - if snacks or a drink included may be better.

Maybe if there's a good DJ or something as well, and a few snacks out, I think 35TL isn't bad at all. It is for a very good cause after all.

GOOD LUCK,

G

Thanks NC Weddings for filling us in. As you know, I am pretty much a penniless pensioner (!!) SO AM MORE interested in what others want - or go as a guinea pig for free.

But I would not want to pay 35tl cos I don't drink (water and coffee) and try not to eat too much, but I have to say that if a DJ was wrapped around it, then I stay away.

Maybe you have to decide what kind of evneing it will be - dinner plus hypnotist or, or, or.

Have you tried the Mountain View Hotel who are becoming very popular these days, or go up market to somewhere like Tango to Buddha, or Di Figaro's, but if raising money is the main aim, then stay with someone like MVH as they do a good price for a buffet.

Or maybe you have found somewhere even better.

Look forward to hearing more.

you ask me what would i suggest!

Well as you may know from the thread ive posted, which is really a top act.she is europes leading amy winehouse tribute act. 15tl for a ticket, unheard of any where else and in europe for this price, you would have to pay more even at your local working mens club back in old blitey.

Anyway, getting back to your show,35TL i would pay,but let me tell you one thing, people pull there face at having to pay 15 TL, bearing in mind all these acts have to be flown out here and put in a hotel and collected from the airport and fed while they are here,im sure all this is over looked somtimes by some!

All i can say is good luck, but from past experience take what is said in the forum with a pinch of salt, but no matter the price of your ticket,i will be there because im a daubter or these kind of acts,so curiosity has got me already.

I know to bring these kind of acts here is anything from £800 upwards plus flights and accomadation and food,1nite

ncweddings.

its a numbers game, maybe better to leave your show until the summer season,as it is a little hard to get people out of there homes in the winter to any kind of venue.

At least in the summer you have got the numbers here and a far better chance of filling your venue and possibly making your ticket a little cheaper and im sure it will be more attractive.
