Does anyone know who can convert mini discs to ordinary CD's. My Sony camcorder records onto mini disc and unfortunately my laptop will not allow me to play these. Any information would be much appreciated.

parkview, if you can plug your camcorder into your laptop and play the disc on the screen then it it fairly straightforward to convert to mpg format and write that to disc. Which model camcorder do you have?

parkview: Although you don't give the specs of your Sony Handycam, I suppose the cam has a USB port. So it's not as difficult as it may look. All you need is a UCB cable (available in most of the computer shops). See here, it's easy: "Steps to transfer video from handycam to PC via USB": http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/8691/135687.html

Parkview This is a long shot, but do you know what format is was copied to - either PAL or NTSC - some video players on PC's/Laptops are a bit tempremental about this, if one doesn't work try the other format. Also you may have to adjust the 'autoplay' function on whatever media player you use to recognise the type of file on the cd/dvd

I have Nero installed and even that cannot read the disc, I have a Sony DCRDVD105E and although I can play discs on a dvd player, they still will not read on my PC, I can only think that the HP Pavillion 7000 cannot read mini discs. God that means buying another PC. Thanks Hans, I have googled all I can and can still not find out why the disc will not even show on my system.

We get ours done at Ilkay's DVD shop in Karakum, just take the cables in with you, he does have a range that may work on your camera if you can't find yours, and he can do it while you wait. Costs the same as buying a dvd. Hope that helps. Angela

I have been to 3 computer shops in Girne, and have found out my Sony DCRDVD105E does not take a USB port and nobody could help me. They suggested I try Ugel the photgraphic shop. Someone else said I need special software which I presumed would be the Nero disc that was part of the Sony package I have but this still does not recognise the disc.
