Hi

Any one know of or have any of the following job vacancies?

I am looking for a sales related position. I have worked within the UK Bathroom industry both in internal & external roles for over 27 years and have a wealth of experience with all related products and procedures. My last employed UK sales role was as Sales Director for a Bathroom importer and distributor. I am also a City & Guilds qualified plumber although I have been off the tools for a number of years. I feel that I will be able to transfer many of these skill to a new role not necessarily within the same sphere.

Or

I am also a trained and experienced Fish fryer and hold UK Level 2 food & hygiene certification.

I would be available to commence employment within the next 4 weeks.

I am a Family man and am are looking to relocate to TRNC where I all ready have a property

If anyone is interested in talking with me about any position please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as possible.

Hello Claire

I'm afraid I dont but I am willing to learn as I understand that I will be a foreigner and it will increase my opportunities if I can at least understand basic Turkish.

gates; why so negative?

My post was an honest attempt to look for a position using whatever means I can to make contact with a prospective employer.

I just dont understand why people have to post snide comments.

Gary,

Forget the sarcastic comments. There is not a lot of work out here for ex pats. Basically if you need to work to live out here is not easy and that is not an understatement. Many people have tried and failed, everything is against you!!!!!!

trnclion,

Being able to adapt is the key, good luck finding a job and hey at least you will get a nice tan while you are looking and be able to drink cheap beer maybe smoke cheap fags and swim in a clean sea, oh and walk the streets without the risk of getting your head kicked in!!!! Hope it works out for you.

Gary,

Sorry about the sarcastic comments you have had.

I really don't know why some people post them or what axe they are grinding, except that they may have had a bad experience in moving to NC.

Do have to say though, that there aren't any jobs in TRNC that will pay enough to support a family and I wouldn't burn your bridges in the UK to come to live here.

As for starting a business, ask anyone if they would do it again.

I agree with Ballyboffin. Really trnc lion, I have seen so many people come out thinking they will get work, and after a while they have to go back defeated, leaving behind the home they bought, and returning to U.K to rent and back to the life they left, only worse.

If you are SERIOUS then come out here on a rekkie, and if you get a job and someone will get you a work permit, then come on over. But to earn enough to pay rent, support a family, and life a reasonable life, is highly unlikely.

As a fish fryer, you might just get the minimum wage of around £400 a monthy (or slightly more), and if you are a family man and need to rent, then your rent could be £500 for a decent place in which to live. This means your wife needs to work, and my original comments apply.

You NEED TO HAVE SOME INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL BACKGROUND. But come over here and meet a few folk who are working here, or have their own business and then decide. But you won't find a job any other way.

I know of

Soirry, I misread your original posting and see that you have a property here. But you are still faced with possible minimum wage. I was going to say I know of people who have gone for jobs advertised, started work, worked hard and well and then never got any wages - and all the pushing in the world has not produced them. And of course, I don't know how old the children are, but you will be faced with school fees, unless you put the children in the state system (and I know people you could talk to about that) where they will need to quickly learn Turkish.

Don't want to be a prophet of doom, but I would hate to see you as yet another who came unstuck. It IS possible to live here, but in the main the ones who success are Turkish Cypriots, or married to TC's, or run their own business successfully etc, etc.

I do hope you find your answers and that you will be happy in the process.

trnclion, if your willing to travel to the South then I would suggest registering your CV with http://www.eures.europa.eu I work for Jobcentre Plus and this is the site that can help people looking for jobs abroad but the vacancies are not the responsibility of the Jobcentre. I can give you an example of a vacancy that came up on 4/2/2010 for an Office Manager, 40 hours per week and permanent but the region/district was Paralimni. Accommodation was provided at £350 euros per month. You must remember though that UK employment legislation does not extend outside the UK. Its one example but maybe worth a thought, but lots to think about. Good luck. Regards Sylvie

Many thanks for the kind comments and good advice.

Like many on here I have been visiting TRNC for a few years now and do know some of the pitfalls and definately don't think it will be easy but then again nor is life here in the UK at the moment.

If we moved to TRNC we would come armed with a nice nest egg but I know that I would get bored eventually so work would be a mixture of pleasure and increased income, the icing on the cake if you liked, not so much a case of cake and eat it more chips and eat them

We would not burn our bridges with the UK as there is a route back for us if we wanted it.

I just wanted to see if I could get something going before arriving in the country.

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary

I agree with MArie B's comments, (message 13), good sound advice. If you have a property here paid for and some money behind you then it is best to come over and take a look to see what is available. And as for the south then it is just as tough there. But you should not have the problem about work permits etc.

The best of luck Gary, the thing is to keep an open mind and remain flexible, lots of us have had to re-invent ourselves to earn a living out here and like you said in your first posting you have transferable skills to adapt to positions in other spheres.

Cheers

John
