Hi grey,

We went to visit this marina last year and my husband said at the time that it looked more like a military harbout than a commercial one. After reading of the huge crane and the fact that Ismet has said that there is a possibility of the US having a military base in the Karpaz, could he be right?

And here is Mr David Lewis' yacht moured up when he visited his marina last year and met with the mayor of Yeni Erenkoy and other business men in North Cyprus. Please see both the current issue of the North Cyprus Property magazine and next one in which we have featured this marina as well as properties in this area, for which we specialise.

I have waited till maybe Altan Houssein answered the 'broken promises 'post, I think some people have been grossly unfair in thier comments.

Which exactly promise did he break? and even more important what promise did he make to the poster.

Building a marina is an extremely expensive operation certainly the one of if not most expensive civil engineering operations to be undertaken in Cyprus far surpassing the Korineum Golf course.

The cost is likely to be in the order of 60.000.000 euros.

The first step is to design and get permissions this is now done.

Then to arrange finance, this is where the stumbling block has been, the recession, the Orams case the uncertainty of talks.

All these have put obstacles in the way which are being hopefully solved shortly.

Altans vision is to be admired, certainly what we need is more marinas in Kibris and at least what he is doing if successful will satisfy that need.

Ok maybe i was a little presumptuous but Sltan really is a Genuine and he is really up against it trying to get the Marina up and going.

The permissions are now in place, but the finance is still being negotiated.

Turkey has a far better system the government build the marina up to breakwaters and concrete pads.

they then lease that to investors for them to build the infrastructure and pontoons and run it.

Still takes a lot of money typically 2 to 4 million euros but much more achievable than starting from scratch.
