[Rules at my pleasure and first and only prize as usual]

I want two answers: 1: What is the name of this village in TRNC (I manipulated the picture in a graphics program)?

Check the picture: http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/QUIZ-5_1_S6001091.jpg

2 : What was I looking for (and I found it: more in the decisive answer).

The score in this new series of Quizzes: Darrener2: 1 pt. Japeal: 1 pt. Ianwfs: 0.5 pt. Bill: 0 pts.

Hatty, you know by now how correct DC likes to be. ;-)

Vatili/Vatyli is the Greek Cypriot name and Vadili is the Turkish Cypriot name for the same village.

I cannot find much more information about this small village, so see if you can. lol

I'm back. I'm back from a photographing day with British golf players on a course at Nicosia International Airport - you really must be British to call golf a game! Tsjj! Walking 500 meters from one tee to another, to make onother swing, talk to two team mates how good/bad the swing was and off you are (450 metres) to discuss the next swing and interfering grass poll! Ok, I know: every country has the right to be foolish...

No right answers in the Quiz yet, I see now. Two more hours to go, people...

after searching internet, agree with Bill but saw spelling as Vadyli and saw refernce to it being named by Templar knights but could not find any specific reason what Hns could have been looking for.

The village /town is now called Vidali.

Approximately one mile out of the village is the site of the medieval village of Vitali.

Although now ruined, it is posssible to trace the remains of several medieval buildings, including churches.

It is believed to have belonged to the Montolif family. Simon Montolif is believed to have been responsible for the murder of Amalric (Amaury II) de Lusignan, son of Hugh III of Cyprus and Isabella of Ibelin.

It was then believed to be in the hands of the De Nores family, one of whose coat of arms can be found carved in stone in the Lapidary museum in Lefkosa.

Almost perfect, Darrener2! But you made an error in the village name: Vidali must be Vadili. You get 1/2 point. See the complete picture (manipulated in msg 1): http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/QUIZ-5_0_S6001091.JPG

And the medieval village was called Vatili. The incomplete answer "Vatili" was - more or less - also given by Bill (msg 2) and Hatty (msg 15), so they are awarded 1/4 point.

Here's one of the pictures I made on the medieval site where once Vatili was located: http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/Vatili_S6001097_72.jpg

The score in this new series of Quizzes: Darrener2: 1,5 pt. Japeal: 1 pt. Ianwfs: 0.5 pt. Hatty: 1/4 pt, Bill: 1/4 pt.

Doh! I could kick myself for making a typo!

I had already given the correct name in a previous post so what I was thinking of, I do not know.

Am I correct in thinking that there are actually four names for this village? Vadili, Vadilli. Vatili & Vatyli?

No wonder I am confused, it doesn't take much these days!
