| Put them in a wood burner with the doors closed and they burn faster than petrol! I have tried both natural wood and briquettes over the winter. Olive and Karob burn the hottest and longest on the wood burner (doors open or closed), Lemon burns well but gives off little heat, Pine burns very fast, gives off heat but produces loads of soot and leaves an "oily" smell and residue in the house. Briquettes burn well on both wood stoves with the doors open or closed, give off a good heat and not a lot of smoke or soot. Downside, for me, with Briquettes is that they burn up too fast and that makes them expensive to use - probably better on an open fire than a wood burner! Up side is they are clean and easy to store. Downside for wood is the amount of work that goes into it - but then you do get warm three times for the same piece of wood, warm from stacking it, warm from chopping it and warm from burning it - you can even add warm from carrying it depending where your wood store is |
