I do not do heights (feel dizzy just writing this thread!) but I am thinking of doing a sponsored paraglide to raise some funds in conjuction with johhnyLee's attempts for Ismail the 5 year old who lost his arm in an accident and is now teased at school.



I would probably do it in june when my daughter visits from London in the hope that she will either do it with me or be there to push me off the edge.



Would members of Cyprus44 be willing to sponsor me nearer the time....please?

I've never done a paraglide but it's on my list of things to do - anything in the air isn't a problem but if it involves a possible landing in water that's me done for Hot air balloon, helicopter, small plane with my 78 years old uncle as pilot no problem, go out of my depth in the sea???? You must be joking! Keep us posted with more details and how to get the money to you. How about asking our pals at our favouritegarage if they'll have a collecting tin/bucket so punters can drop in what they want? Just an idea xx

Puppy lover, wehope to be over in late spring, is it possible to have somewhere we can leave you sponsor ship money? could someone be put in charge, a bank or some thing? There are British ladies in the banks, looking after the expats accounts ect, could a set up point be arranged?

I am sooo determined to help this little boy that I WILL do it even if I have to be thrown off the edge of the mountain.



Early days yet but in the next couple of weeks I will be approaching banks/shops and individuals to act as a collection point for people to donate.

I am roping my daughter who will be over from London in to do it with me and hopefully she will collect some money her end.......haven't told her yet....ho hum!!

Update....



I have just received confirmation that The Children In Need Foundation will allow me to do the paraglide under their banner.

Very grateful to Laurence Floyd for submitted my request to the committee.



The date set is saturday June 12th and I hope to have the sponsor forms up and running and placed in various locations very soon.



I am awaiting confirmation that Ismail and his family will be there on the day and will update further details when I have things up and running.

I will sponsor you as well and don't worry it is actually really easy to do as you go of a slight incline rather than of the edge of the mountain. I have done it twice now, once here and once in Turkey and I am terrified from heights.



But the way down has that wow factor that you experience once in a lifetime.

Not too sure about the wow factor though.

Our kitchen window view is of the mountains and since coming up with this idea I feel physically sick every time I look at them!!(might have to consider a 'screen saver' view to put up at the window!!).



I'm hoping that if I do manage to get little Ismail to come and watch on the day, I won't pass out, throw up or bottle out of it.

Great news! As luck would have it, we will be there when you do the deed. I will keep looking for further developments, times, location, etc. and we'll do our best to come along and cheer you on (rather you than me, as you know). Will sponsor you regardless of whether we can actually be there. To be honest, I may have to watch you from the ground as driving up to Ilgaz (with me as a passenger) makes me a nervous wreck.
