| A nationwide referendum is taking place in Switzerland on a proposal to give animals the constitutional right to be represented in court. Animal rights groups say appointing state-funded animal lawyers would ensure animal welfare laws are upheld, and help prevent cases of cruelty. Opponents say Switzerland does not need more legislation regarding animal protection. BBC This from the country that brought you a ban on minarets... The Swiss have clearly gone doolally tap. Of course this is potentially a lucrative new money supply chain for the poor lawyers.... |

| Who is going to represent the poor cockroach? At what point do you say, this is an animal worthy of legal protection under this new 'lawyers for animals' scheme? Or simply, hey it's a bug... PS Cuckoo clocks come from the Black Forest area in Germany I think... |
