2. Some debate, but generally thought to be Baisy in the region of Brabant, now Belgium.

Excellent Darrener2! Both points are yours! Godfrey of Bouillon, one of the main leaders of the First Crusade, was possibly born in 1061 (Baisy, Lower Lorraine) and died in Jerusalem (1100) as "Protector of the Holy Sepulchre". His brother Baldwin (French: Bauduin) followed him up as the first Crusader King of Jerusalem.
