Come on halffull, this could be the year of a real 'full glass'. And if you feel Westminster is too busy, why not write to them and draw attention to it. If everyone did and wrote to their MEP's and Chris Bryant, just maybe Westminster would realise they need to put some of their 'busyness' towards Cyprus and its future.

Three cheers for Michael Stephen, whoever he is.

Who actually gets to read that mag? Everyone in Parliament? It should be stuffed under Chris Bryants nose for sure.

Good article. At bottom of page 4 of article you can submit comments. I submitted as follows;

An interesting article re Cyprus by Michael Stephen highlighting the APPALLING treatment of Turkish Cypriots not only by Greek Cypriots, but by the rest of the world too!! Can someone please tell me WHY it that the "Republic of Cyprus" can be recognised as the legal government for the whole island when it does not fulfil the obligations and agreements of the 1960 constitution i.e. that the government of Cyprus must (according to the 1960 agreement) comprise a proportion of Greek AND Turlish Cypriots within it. As everybody knows, the Turkish Cypriots were ejected at gunpoint from government positions in 1963, so at that point the rest of the world should have acknowledged that the Greek Cypriots alone CANNOT continue to be recognised as the legitimate government for the island of Cyprus. It is shameful that the rest of the world has allowed, and CONTINUES to allow this to happen.

I enjoyed the article but wonder whether it is a little too biased towards the TCs. IF anyone in the UK Parliament reads the article, they may think the same and thus ignore it. Sorry to be pessimistic, but that is my opinion.

Twaddle. To tell the true story of what was happening then will always appear to be biased towards the Turkish Cypriots.

As a British serviceman I was sent out here on Boxing Day 1963 ,to support any evacuation and witnessed a lot of the events which would be impossible to relate without appearing to support the TC's.

I was here until April 64 when the UN came in.

Every British service man I spoke to all supported the TC's and when I asked an officer why we were allowing it to happen was told '' It's Politics ''.

I agree with you that it will be ignored in Parliament but for different reasons.

Thanks to Millzer - good comment, and I really DO believe that chipping away at a piece of marble canproduce a beautiful piece of art. We may not all be Michelangelo's but we can try!!!!

As to who is your M.P. YOu can google almost anything, and you can google a list of MO's, MEP' etc.

Incidentally, Baroness Sarah Ludford wrote some good stuff which can be found on her web page http://www.sarahludford.org.u.k (I think)( again very pro TC's. And let's face it if the pendulum is to swing back to the middle of justice and equality it has to do a lot of swinging to the TC side after all the swings to the GC side.

Keep it coming, folks.

Try and google him. Don't think he has but you can certainly find out about him, as a Barrister and former M.P.

By the way, I am puytting this to the top, cos I see someone else started another thread on the same subject. Interesting how different people have different comments to the same article.

For me, it is great to have such an intelligent person on our side, - but I agree that I wish more people read Parliamentary B rief.
