Now all property claims are to be processed via tha IPC and the Greeks are on the backfoot with regard to a recognised body to handel Greek property claims, may be a good time for the TRNC goverment to sell off/ auction and repopulate the Varosha ghost town.

No doubt many international investment bodies would jump at the chance to redevelop the area, and pour much needed coffers into the goverments hands. And it would realy piss the bubbles off.

Turkey kicked it's tourist industry off by saying "build your tourist hotels here, and we won't ask you where the money came from"

Possibly the same technique would give a much needed boost to Varosha

Dixie,

I like your train of thought. There is a massive amount of money to be made by re-developing the area.Just needs someone to put their hands in their pockets and invest,

Mark

' Varosha / Maras(h) is officially part of the UN buffer zone ...'

Under who's 'ownership'?

And do not forget it is still a 'bargaining tool' that the Turkish Cypriots can use as they feel the need.

Dear AJ re msg 6

" it is officially under UN 'ownership' but the Turkish military 'occupy it' .. it has long been the 'bargaining chip' you refer to - and Turkey can't start to build on it - or they lose it ..
