I don't know if this has been published on this board already (in that case I apologise for a double-post): http://www.isria.com/pages/8_March_2010_140.php

Clearly Mr. X is trying to slide the blame onto others in the past, but if he knew that the ECHR would always have so many applications which might influence their take on the IPC, he should have said something before, if only to cover his backside.

Good find, Hans

It is interesting that Christofias has said that he blames mass applications to the ECHR for bringing about this situation.... he was a supporting member of a coalition that sank Annan and discouraged folk applying to the IPC.

IMHO he only has himself to blame.. he should have stood up to the 'hawks' and been counted a long time ago..

In 2004 he told the supporters of AKEL to vote NO to Annan .. 'claiming' their "No meant YES" ? !!!!! He could have brought down the coalition and formed a govt of national unity with DISY - who supportd a YES.. this would probably haver carried 65-70% of GC votes to a YES..

I cannot understand whether he was just too weak or knowing the deal with DIKO - the party holding the coalition together ( Papadopolous' party) would likely mean HE would retain leadership and improve his chances of the next Presidency.

cont

The man is reaping what is sowed.. He now presides over a weakening economic outlook and is too weak to bring about a much needed sea-change of opinion ..' Liealotopoulos ' came GCS expectations of an eventual settlement that will be MUCH weaker than Annan, now....
