Are you referring perhaps to the number of your personal posts on the left of your particular post?
My understanding is that this updates automatically on all posts.
Therefore if you joined the forum and posted "Hi I'm new how are you" this would at first say number of posts 1. Later if you made 4 more posts the post count in your first and all subsequent messages would say number of posts 5.
This is my understanding, not based on any knowledge of how the forum operates.

I believe that if you make a number of posts on the same thread, your 'count' will not go up.
Try posting on any other thread and the count will increase, then come back here to confirm.
