Geoff.

How much in percentage terms do you normally have to add to the cost when it is delivered here for import tax and such ?

In answer to Msg No. 4 I don't add anything. All the packages have been delivered un-opened to our house, bar one that had beeen opened by customs at Ercan and then re-sealed. No problems to date therefore! As Msg No. 3 correctly states don't put Cyprus in the address; I use:

Name/House No./Street,

Gazimagusa City,

KKTC,

Mersin 10,

Turkey.

Geoff,

Is that from Amazon.co.uk or .com because I can't get the amazon.com to recognize the delivery adress.

I used co.uk and my box number but had to go to the PO in girne to customs to collect! Wont do it again as postage was horrific (pd by card) now |I get stuff sent to whichever member of family is out next!! Cost me 5tl I think at customs underneath PO, but itwas quite a few books. One maybe not so bad!

I use http://www.amazon.co.uk and have had an account with them since they first started up. I have used them with no problem to deliver goods to:

UK

Qatar

Bahrain

Mauritius

Republic of Cyprus

as well as TRNC/via Mersin 10, Turkey.

I just use my PO Box number......and usually get delivery within a week. There is a limit to what you can order though, like electronics etc

Well I don't know Geoff, maybe its because they don't like the look of me, all it says is some countries can not have this delivered and Turkey is one of them.

Never had a problem with either Amazon UK or Amazon USA. Deliveries from the UK Amazon now seem to be sent from Germany and normally arrive in 7-10 days. Another company who also send here is: http://www.bibliophilebooks.com They are in London and send their stuff via Switzerland. They sell a lot of bargain priced books, particularly hardbacks that have now gone into paperback. Worth a look at their website.

proger1, Amazon.COM usually do not deliver to Europe they leave that to the individual European subsidiaries where possible as it saves on postage I guess. Usually best to order from the country your credit card has been issued from.

Thats not the problem mal, I have used this credit to order for several countries, I can order some items but the issue is the manufacturer of the particular items I want does not have licencing to sell or support their product in Turkey so Amazon will not deliver there, I can go through ebay though and get it delivered but I am not sure if it will get here and how much extra I would have to pay to get the item through customs.

izyyy2001,

I did mention it earlier but just in case you missed it or I diidn't explain well enough, I had the same issue with registering the address as it will not recognise the postcode. I am a registered member with amazon and I was able to go to the help desk and find an e-mail address to write to informing them iof the issue I had, they wrote back to me within 24 hours informing me that my address was now valid.

Put all the address details into your e-mail to them and they should set it up for you.

lovingcyprus,

some items you order are automatically tax free, others as you said are claim back but as I am not a resident of any country I can't do that unfortunately because I can't show where I live and therefore not prove I am entitled to tax free.

izyyy2001, I ordered the last time with a credit card from another country but have just ordered from ebay.co.uk with a local card, it is from creditwest and it all went through no problem, I am still awaiting delivery though to see if this is a workable idea. Amazon are very restrictive in what they supply but you can normally find someone on ebay that will deliver to Turkey, Mersin 10 although the delivery costs vary.

Its books that you can get delivered via Amazon. All other electronic/household goods can't be shipped to Turkey for whatever reason.
