Mothering Sunday is a Christian Festival - nothing to do with the commercialised Mothers Day!! But it has now just become a commerial outlet for cards and flowers =- they all go up in price onthe Sat before in UK - I remember when we used to go out and collect violets and primroses for dear old Mum. Our church in Dorset still does this - the village children collect and small bunches are made and all the females at church, married or not, get a little bunch during the service on Mothering sunday.

So, how is it a Christian festival? I've never been taught about it in this way. What's the significance, what's it all about? I was brought up to know that it was just a time to say thanks to mum and shower her with gifts, spending weeks before trying to come up with some novel idea for something she didn't already have, and swapping notes with my sisters!!

So, is Father's Day also a Christian thing?
