Over the last 3 months my wife and I spent hours bailing water out of our pump room which on numerous occassions became flooded.

Not anymore!!

My local plumber Ali has just raised my three water pumps off the groung by a meter and has also installed a submersivle pump(I think thats how you spell it) .He's done a first class job and comes highly recomended.

So its no more buckets of water for me -thanks to Ali.(05338324349)

Will just have to talk to the wife now...hmmmm

Hi Magicart

Will you tell us how much he charged you for this. T'other half was gonna do this when he comes in 2 weeks. Would be great to get it done before he gets here.

Then he'll have more time to take me shopping!

Hi Videl,

It all depends on what equipment you have in the pump room.

Mine cost about £400 but I had to replace a pump and some of electrics due to flooding!!

Just give Ali a ring-his English is perfect-he will assess the work and give you a price. He will not rip you off

Hope it works out !!

Art,

I take the excess water comes from the balance tank over-filling? If so you could have a submersible pump fitted at the maximum depth you want in the balance tank to remove the excess before it seeps sideways into the pump room.

Hi Groucho.

Yes the water is coming from the balance tank as we have no manual overflow.

However some of the water is leaking through the pump room ceilng and walls.

This is why we have had all of our equipment lifted off the floor.

The other issue with using a submersible pump in the balance tank is that its dependent on electricity-as you know we have had a few power cuts this year so the pump would have been inactive.

Thanks for your interest.

Art if it's inactive in the balance tank it's inactive in the pump room too...

The thing is, you can regulate the water level at source rather than waiting for seepage into the pump room.

Belt and braces approach...
