I don't think its food poisoning as the Mrs. was really bad all last week end, the lad was bad on wed & me & the daughter have started tonight.

Seemed to come from nowhere.

Dodgy water supplies due to flooding ?? Drink bottled like everyone else.

me too, yesterday. Okay at 8-00, bit queazy at 10-00, chemists at 12-00, back in bed at 1-00. Ate and drank nothing. Just got up and don't feel too bad. Won't be eating today though.

Tony

ps we don't even cook with the tap water, it's strictly for cleaning.

There does seem to be something as a lot of the school kids are off with tummy bugs headaches etc. Maybe the wind brought some bacteria... the air is full of it BTW.

Maybe it is water-born... ever thought about the fact that when you shower you breath in small particles of water.

That's one of the major ways Legionella is transmitted.

With all the flooding the water supply might well be subject to increased bacterial levels...

There does seem to be something going around but not sure if it's water-born. Was hospitalized with it here in Istanbul 4-5 weeks ago and my parents both had it a couple of weeks ago. Never been so sick in my life. None of us have ever been laid up with a stomach bug before. Would love to know if anyone finds out what it actually is.

Don't clean your teeth with tap water, and wash all vegetables in bottled water. I even cook my vegetables in bottled water, and have done for many years. To protect myself from bacteria, I clean my hands after visiting supermarkets with hand gel. Most of the trolleys are gunged up with muck from kids sitting in the them with snotty noses etc. Before anyone says anything I do not suffer from OCD. Through many years of living here I have learnt the hard way, and water is one of the main problems. If I go to a restaurant which is rare nowadays, I always make sure the water bottle is sealed, as in the past have had a bad stomach the next day, as the bottle has been refilled with tap water.

I feel sorry for all you folk who are throwing up, I am really scared of being sick. Hope you all get better very soon.

Lecture over!!

Don't forget swine flu is still around, maybe you should have a test done for that?

we used to use an ozonating machine to wash off any fruit & veg & never had any probs at all but as we are going back to the UK it's tucked away in a box somewhere. (along with the colloidal silver)

I think the water here is ok if it is boiled (we always use tap water for a cuppa)

We do use the tap water to rinse our teeth so could be that but we all do that & have been effected at different times.

Took some MMS solutions a few hours ago & feel a lot better now.

One thing I haven't done is check the outside storage tank for anything in there that shouldn't be.

Lille Msg 6

You never mentioned who you were 'laid' up with for five days! If a 'bolt' from the 'blue' (diamond shaped) you must be a very lucky, satisfied young lady!

Had it last night, hit me from nowhere..... thought it was poisoning. Ended up with such bad pains in my stomach and intestines that I couldn't sleep. Hubby took me to the main hospital in Girne at 5 am. One injection (morphine I presume)......worked almost instantly and luckily no pain since.

Am just eating dry toast and drinking very weak, sweetened tea.

So far so good.

Any other suggestions for what I can eat and drink are most welcome.

The safe diet when affected with such bad symptoms is the BRAT diet recommended for children with dysentery.

Banana

Rice

Apple

Toast

This will stop you from felling crap whilst not feeding the bug.

To me this sounds like salmonella - I got it 40 years ago from an incorrectly defrosted frozen turkey -my own fault through inexperience - invited some friends around for Easter Sunday lunch - living in England then. I thought 48 hours was ok to defrost - served meal - most guests wanted white breast meat - absolutely fine - I must have eaten a bit that was not fuilly defrosted - for two weeks thought I was dying really in agony - so sympathic to anyone with this bug. I still have the occasional symptom - but only ever eat fresh food now - and rarely go to restaurants - when I do its the freshly cooked meat, fish or omlettes - little family run cafes who buy food in fresh are the best. I'm also seriously worried about chicken etc that comes smothered in sauce. If the food is ok why disguise it.
