We would like to inform all previous customers that we will not be opening our Scruples Bar for this season. We would also like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone for their custom and making our time at Scruples enjoyable.

Just too many to choose from, not enough tourists, some that run the places dont deserve to even be in business because they couldnt care less about your custom. Many over charged last year. If you went into one of the pub type eating places, the regulars all sitting at the stools, not a word to any one, sit at a table and food order after they have finished conversation with whoever, telly blasting out their favourite programme, yes most have a lot to learn in NC to keep all punters wanting to go back.....

There you are zerochlor, just my thoughts, so lets hear from others.....

What a pity that is, it was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a leisurely lunch or quiet drink, nice surroundings and friendly people. Sadly there are too many places and very few tourists, especially at this time of year.

dizzycows. I find the same in some restaurants, regulars altogether at tables we are shown to a table at the back of the restaurant on our own even though we are brits on holiday, found this at the Old Mill and Liasons in Ozankoy we just had a waiter to take our order and deliver the food, that was it, no conversation with us.

Pehaps it wont be so bad this year, the ones left in business might just want custom! Plus the no smoking ban might just stop the huddle around the bar now! Lets hope so, nothing more off putting than backs of other people puffing away ... Our friends who were in there 30s with young children, came to NC for the first time last year, they had the same treatment... Good way to put people off from coming back....

Then the restraunts/pubs wonder why most like to stay in and eat.....

Woodspeckie, perhaps we should start up a club for grumpy old folks, that would be a laugh now wouldnt it....

What a shame, Scruples was a fantastic place to chill out by that wonderful pool. All the best for the future Dave and Debbie!

The reason why these places are closing is there are not enough people living here permanently too many bar, restaurants charging similar prices so you tend to go to your favourite. What they should do is negotiate a winter rent and do like the hut and silver rocks shut for the winter.

I don't think that applies in this case TopTen as the place is owned by the Dave and Debbie so rent issues are not applicable. I also don't believe it's anything to do with not covering costs or enough custom as they were extremely busy last summer. Nothing to do with a "failed" business. I think it's more a case of either wanting to move on and do something else or actually not wanting to spend so many hours working when they don't actually need to.

"not wanting to spend so many hours working when they don't actually need to." doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Who would start a business in the leisure industry involving working lots of hours, if they didn't want to work lots of hours because they didn't need to?
