Hi andy when we were there in April we tried to go along the northern coast but many roads are really not much more than tracks it could take 3hours or more to go all the way so its better so I was told to drop south and pick up a main road to travel east and then go north sorry its not in more detail but those village names confuse me

From Esentepe take the coast road to the east. When you get to the T junction near Tatislu turn right and take the mountain road.

This will bring you to the Lefkosa/Iskele road near to Gecitkele. Turn left and drive to the next T junction beyond Iskele. Turn left, drive through Bogaz (stop at the harbour for a drink at the Belediye café) and keep going for the Karpaz.

Hi Andy

Not done it yet but im sure you will find a way there I am led to believe you need to go over to famagusta Bogaz then back across north to pan Handle . Or if you are more adventurous you can go by sea along the coast in a rubber Dinghy . I know someone who will lend lend you one at TBV Including the oars!

Regards Ron

Hi andysue,

I went to the Karpaz in April with my sister and we drove from Esentepe down that coast as far as we could go, yes the roads are bad in places but your on your holidays and out for the drive and scenery and it is beautifull down this coast. Take your time and drive with care, you will eventually turn in land and then go over the mountain through the pine forest and eventually come down to the other coast. We stayed over night down at the oasis and then explored the beaches and the monastary before making our way back through Bogaz.

We are in our autumn years, so if 2 ladies past their youth can do it, I am sure you can.

Sorry Paul, but I have to disagree re Malibu. It should be excellent, as it is in a first class position. On our one and only visit we found the beach filthy and were well overcharged at the café. We made the point to the staff and received a shrug of the shoulders. friends report similar experiences.

I will never understand why one of the few real assets the TRNC has (the beaches) are in such poor condition.

I'm visiting the Karpas Peninsula early October and was wondering if it's essential to hire a 4x4 to access a couple of the beaches, namely Ronnas Bay on the north coast and Golden Sands on the south coast.

peeps

i am off to Balci Plaza in Yeni Erenkoy for a few days. haven't been up there for a while, so hoping that I can still say its lovely when I get back!

will let you know how things are, and would say that you DON'T need a 4x4 at all!

You do not need a 4X4 until you need one. If one is available, why not?
