Thanks Spider.First year without my mum,she died a few months ago.

Without thinking,I have cooked a big Sunday dinner, will never taste like hers. How the hell did she make the gravy?Instant Bisto is not the same.

My biggest regret she was never well enough to see my house, garden,or lovely Northern Cyprus.

She would have loved it here, and made decent gravy.

My kindest regards to all mums.

I lift a glass to you,and maybe a few extra

Ah poor Mike, I've just spoken to my mum, she also will never get to see this lovely island due to poor health.

It's such a shame.

Try making gravy with meat juices, plain flour and oxo cubes, bet it'll taste just like your

mum's. Maybe then while you eat your meals, it'll bring back fond memories.

affiet ollson.

Yes Happy Mothers Day to all and we thank them all for the love and care they have given us.

My Mum is no longer with us but I put her photograph by a little Mothers Day Balloon that I have and hope that if she is looking down she knows I was thinking of her today as usual. Miss her every single day and she really wanted to be a Great Gran but she died just one week before her first Great Grandson was born and he has the same bright red hair that she had.

In the US and Canada and the Middle East today is not Mothers Day but later in the year.

I don't very often post on this or any other forum but, I would just like to say what a lovely thread and what a really nice guy Spider you must be to have started it. I am blessed as I still have both my parents who are 86. I spoke to my Mum twice today and we laughed, had a few tears and rememebered all the good times we have shared.

My Mum and Dad know this island so well but sadly will not be able to visit again due to mobility problems. As an only child I hurt every day because I am not with them but, they always wanted me to have the life I wanted. Mums are so precious and we should all value them.

When young, my Mum had a great singing voice and even made a record! She loved everything Vic Damone sung because his diction was so good.

Thanks for bringing back memories to me, but not for bringing tears to my eyes.

When mum used to shout at one of use,she never got the name right and would shout all our names at once, then her teeth would come flying out..that soon stopped the shouting..

my mum used to say "dont look at me like that" so I would look at the floor, then she would say "look at me when I am speaking to you" the best one was "do you want a smack" I felt like saying "oh, yes please"

I used to bake pies and cakes with my Mum, I did with my Daughter and yesterday afternoon I spent with my grandaughter and grandson baking, butterfly cakes, baked egg custard pie and jam tarts with leftover pastry.
