Did anyone else fall asleep?

Wasn't it boring? All those new ideas; I didn't notice much overtaking; Oh, apart from Alonso driving past Vettel, who was slowing down!

Deal or No deal has more excitement.

Yep, boring, if they can't overtake on that course it's gonna be a boring season me thinks!

I agree with all of you,if these rules are to create more overtaking, they dont work.My son told me he is going to watch the highlights later,i told him not to bother.

Listening to *your* 'God' , Jenson Button and Martin Whitmarsh ( Maclaren F1 boss) they all agree that this is NOT going to be much of a spectacle if they can't follow closely .

Interestingly Martin Whitmarch blames the double diffusers and hopes that their demise NEXT year will improve things..

He wants TWO pit stops to be compulsory and Bridgestone to make the tyres last less long !

mmmmm

A safer rule would be maximum fuel loads to force pitting and driving within fuel usage per lap. Make it a level playing field... everyone starts with identical loads and can only add a certain volume during the race... what fun!

Making tyres last less long might make them deliberately lose grip or cause blow-outs and be dangerous.

To me, it's not who, or what team wins. It's important, but it's the actual race that should be the spectacle.

I will now watch the practice, the qualifiers, the race build-up, the first corner, then bugger off and see the result later.

One way to make the race more exciting, is to slow them down and get some overtaking. I know it will never happen, but making them faster hasn't worked.

The other idea, is to have a handicapping system, like amateur golf, or horseracing. Those with the experienced drivers, speed and the points, go at the back of the field.

This is a sport, not a parade. Eventually, it will die.

Can you imagine Sky bidding for it? Neither can I!

Roll on April 11th when Moto GP starts. Lots of overtaking and fairing bashing. These guys are in a class of there own. Could you see Alonso, Massa or Button taking a bike round a circuit and leaning it over like Rossi and Stoner. Have to say Rossi is a class act wether it be Moto GP, Rallying or testing a Ferrari and getting within milliseconds of the pole position qualifying time in the Ferrari.

Texas, I agree with the handicapping system.

I used to race for Speedworth at Wimbledon, Walthamstow, Ipswich, Ringwood, etc. and the more points you had the futher back in the line up you started. The good drivers still won and the spectators could watch them battling through the field.

Pete,

That would obviate qualifying for all but the first race of the season... the lead up to the race is a big money spinner. Where do you place drivers with equal points?

You have only got to look at finishing times between to top ten to understand why it was a procession.

Felipe Massa 16 seconds behind Alonso, Hamilton 23.1 seconds behind Alonso and right down to Barrichello in 10th place at 62.4 seconds adrift.

Dear Groucho re 7

Tyres can be made so that their performance goes off WAY before they would give out...

Touring cars have revered the Grid for the next race for 'yogs' but the cars CAN overtake..

Bring back Murray Walker, that'll do it. I loved it when it was him and Marin Brundle commentating.

Ecclestone: No panic over F1 show

By Jonathan Noble Tuesday, March 16th 2010, 09:11 GMT

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone insists there is no need for panic about the state of the sport - despite criticism about the boring season opener in Bahrain.

But Ecclestone has urged for a more considered response – and reckons the sport's stakeholders should wait until after the first four flyaways of the season before deciding if urgent rules changes are needed.

"There is no panic, no crisis for F1," said Ecclestone in the wake of the controversy caused by the far from enthralling Bahrain GP. "I think there is nothing we can do immediately and we should not just knee-jerk into changes. "

Bernie 'knows' what's best for us...

I CAN tell you that anyone with a 1.8m dish and an old sky box - WITHOUT a card - can watch it via the red button from News 24 - channel 503 - and going to page 3001 - sports multiscreen ....

It's not just this race, or even this years racing that has suddenly become mind numbingly boring - Formula one has been like this for many, many years.

As a motor racing fan I have not bothered with it for a long time.

I agree with laptarunner try Moto GP...or World and British Superbikes...A Turk races really well in World Supersport.

All on Eurosport and done much better than the Beebs attempt on F1

"Qatar GP what a race"

Yes, and what a result for Rossi.

In the end he won it well,

but had to fight off Pedrosa then Dovizioso & Lorenzo .

Hayden was unlucky.

Stoner went out, but will be back.

Roll on Japan 25th April...
