| I have Mcafee and the normal cleaning tools on Windows XP, is there any need to have Registry cleaners installed. I have Regcure but am wondering if it is necessary. |

| Hi Norman In answer to your question - yes you should clean your registry on a regular basis, it becomes clogged up with bits of programs, code and other cookies left over by browsing the web and normal working. After a while this will slow your system down. It doesn't matter what program you use to do this, but it should be done. As groucho says, Uniblue is very good for this purpose, it 'does what what it says on the box' with the minimum of fuss and doesn't put a load on the system like 'Norton' Regcure also works well, and i think the latest version of Mcafee has a registry cleaner. It is best carried out after you have run your daily/weekly virus check, as this sometimes leaves the odd shortcut etc. behind. If you have the option built into you reg cleaner, set it make a backup of the registry before it cleans, just in case you have to restore it for some reason. GG |
