Appears not to have been updated, so need to run in XP Sp2 mode.

Greenman is correct, this program has not been updated for W7, and i have only been able to get it to run in 'compatibility' mode. It also occasionally freezes if the file you are applying it to, uses some of the latest 'codecs' used on DVD's

Try this link to get version 3.2.0.15 which is supposed to work with Vista (and should run in compatibility mode) - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4020

Best of luck

Update to earlier posting - i have looked at this version again, and 'over installed' it on my current version, and adjusted (down) the quality/compression settings which helps this version function better with W7 when doing a backup, it may be that this version has been updated slightly - give it a try on the 'automatic' setting first.

Hope this helps

I've just downloaded and tried DVD shrink and it crashes my PC giving an immediate blue screen! Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you remedy it?

Hi Sids

I presume you are using windows xp or vista, and there has been a problem with some versions of DVD shrink and these systems. It is all to do with the DEP ( Data Execution Prevention) within Shrink. Vista thinks this is a malicious piece of software and switches it off, thus causing a conflict/crash.

There is a workaround by switching it back on - check out this link for an explantion by one user, if you fancy giving it a try - http://www.versiontracker.com/php/feedback/article.php?story=20070606114629498#comments
