The originals have gone - left at the end of January - been taken over by someone else - dont know if they have kept the name as I havent been since Mandy and Alan left. Maybe its an old ad or something you've seen? sorry to be a bit negative! They sold house and business so unless changed minds, its def not the original Joels!

Tuttut, I went to Naci at the cutting rooms for the first time a few weeks ago and found her to be very good. She is a London Cypriot so speaks perfect English.

Naj at The Cutting Room is the best I have found here, and I tried a lot!! Naj is excellent, great cutter and colourist. Neil Anthony was awful at cutting my mid length fine hair and spent most of his time talking to another customer while he cut my hair, 7 snips 20 mins job done!!! It was awful but he blow dried it well!

Naj at the cutting rooms also tutors Nultan's trainees on work experience. Interesting to note the comments about Neil Anthony. I used to use him but customer care seemed to depend on his mood. I believe Rachel at NA is very good though. Personally for me The Cutting Room is THE best salon. Personal preference again I suppose, but Naj is always professional and I did not find that at NA.

Joels is definitely gone, but there are lots of good hairdressers around - some good at cutting, other good at colouring and others are blow dry, and some good at all three. Just find a satisfied customer - as are many above - and then decide if you can and want to afford that particular hairdresser.

Was talking about it today and names as mentioned above and others came into it - but some charge prices too much for we impoverished pensioners.

I personally think that it is a thing called personal preference, I assure measure 11 that I do not feel it is Neils mood, but how as a customer you are reacting, whilst a hairdresser can make sure you look your best it depends very much on interaction, if you are happy with Neil and atmosphere etc I can assure you you will get result looking for, but being as Neil you are agiing now, from a young 50 year old looks like cutting room will be my new choice, but not for a long time I hope xx

I have been to all of the above mentioned and have had not so good experiences from each of them.. not saying it was terible at all, just personal reason didnt really fell they were my cup of tea. Some not enough confidence to do something, others not making a dame bit of notice to my hair and as with most hair dressers fed up of sitting there lissoning to gossip and slagging off people, or a smoky atmosphere.

I think when going to a hair dressers it should be a relaxing experience, enjoyable and professional.

If anyone has any different hairdressers please advise as my hair has never been so bad in my life.

You could try Tony and Guy on the south, you can walk across at the new border and they are always good! I used to always go to them when I was in the UK.

Come on Neg Nick you gave Naj at the Cutting Room 10/10 when your wife went, where is your praise for her now?!

barbieb I think you will find that I did say it's all down to personal preference in my post. Maybe you haven't come across him when he's moody and I do know how to interact with hairdressers thank you. I have in the past marked hairdressing examination papers for Neil and with him.

As to your ageing comment I think that demeans you.

I've never visited any of the hairdressers mentioned above, as we are only able to visit a few times a year and I tend to get my hair done before visiting. I must admit, though, that the comments about Neil Anthony did make me smile. Having seen Neil out and about, I don't think I'd risk him cutting my hair when/if he's in a "mood"

Having said that, I understand he's a very good hairdresser.

Mandy at Joels advised me to go to Hair Bonita - its on the main road past the hospital on the right going towards the Pia Bella. Its near Eminaga Pools. Went there a couple of weeks ago, nice cut, same colour stuff as Mandy used, small place, quiet. I was satisfied. Can also do manicure and pedicure while you wait!! Prices standard.

Yes PaulW possibly he's a good hairdresser when the mood takes him and not when faced with fine naturally wavy hair!!

He told me I'd leave the salon with hair just like Goldie Hawn!! Only true if one side of her hair is a few inches shorter than the other! I had to tie my hair up for 6 months as I was so embarrassed when people kept asking me what had happened to my lovely hair!! (This IS going back a few years when he was in the old shop, so maybe he's improved since then!)

Message 21 - sorry Panchocat - this message was from me (Jean) and not Paul. I wouldn't like anyone to think he goes to a lot of trouble 'preparing' his locks for our holidays! He just goes to the barbers and has it cut

Jean, aah illusion spoilt!

Seriously the barbers here are very good from what I have seen of hubby and friends haircuts. Shame they don't cut women's hair. Has Paul tried any of them? I sometimes feel they would make a better job of it than some of the ladies hairdressers here!

Clairecat I know exactly what you mean and I personally would say that from my experience no he has not improved! Doubtless his league of lady fans would disagree with us but as we both know a disastrous haircut is a disaster for us.

Ali at Thalgo - in same block as All Occasions & opposite lemar - Lovely Guy clean modern shop. I have done the rounds and was not satisfied but I have found he cuts hair really well and not over priced.

Message 24 - yes, I have noticed that a lot of the TC's have very nice haircuts and in fact have said to Paul that he should try getting a haircut whilst we're on holiday. He's got very thick wavy hair anyway, so it would probably be difficult to mess it up.

Unlike me, who has dead straight, fine hair. It's just not fair (not my hair - life)

NA does seem to have an 'entourage' of ladies around him whever I see him. Quite honestly, his voice would drive me up the wall after a while.

MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm! I agree! about the voice that is. Take it from me fine wavy hair is as frustrating as I guess fine straight hair must be, however as hubby is virtually bald I can't complain too much! The barber in the village gave him his summer cut this week 1 on top 2 the rest!
