Mark,

I am sure i will be corrected here if i am wrong but here goes.I understand bi-zonal,bi-communal to mean political equality for both northern and southern cyprus.Which would be overseen by a federal government with a single international personality.Pick the bones out of that.Good or bad, hard to say as historically the north have always been dealt the short straw. In a perfect world i would have to say that it would be good for the north,

Regards,

Paul.

Paul,

That is how I understand it also!

There can not be any chance of a unified Cyprus again Surely!

Wyn,

You really are becoming so downtrodden (made up word).if you ask the people of both sides of the divide its well documented that they do not want unification. So why p*** about trying to achieve it.Direct flights lift the embargos, let the north look after itself as it is now,

Paul.

Think England and Scotland.

The sub states look after local issues (Education, Health etc) and the National Government deals with Defence, Foreign affairs etc.

Will it happen?

Both sides talk a good job, but have to balance their political futures if they sign up for something that does not give THEIR side all they want.

We may have a long wait.

Newlad/Dodger,

A bizonal, bicommunal federation with single international identity is the same thing as reunifination. It's been the only train waiting at the platform for some years now and it'll be happening.

Gut instinct that what's going on in the background will eventually be accepted by the people.

Bizonal: Two zones, Turkish Cypriots in the north and Greek Cypriots in the south.

Bicommunal: Made up of two communities i.e. Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots.

Is it likely to happen? Shotgun weddings is not very fashionable these days but it may happen. If it does happen, will it last? As much chance as a bully husband marrying a weak lady with a strong mother!!! A breakdown of the marriage will be even easier and faster since they will be living in two separate houses

Hi all,

Its as plain as the nose on Wynards face that the people from north and south do not want re-unification,but still the politicians push for it.I suppose a referendum would be out of the question though,

Paul,

A bit of Black Country Logic!.......................(its as obvious as the nose on my face)

Since the intervention/invaision of 1974 THERE HAS BEEN PEACE! Before mayhem?

IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON"T FIX IT!! 2 Seperate states under 1 REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT. CEMENTED BY......A PIPELINE FROM TURKEY....PAID FOR BY EEC.

WATER FOR ALL............................SIGN IT OR THERES NOWT TO TALK ABOUT!!

Just my opinion! ...................... (I am building a saltwater swimming Pool though)
